Lame crosshair question?

Dull question maybe, but gonna ask it anyway. saw a posting while back about shots/marks on walls not hitting the centre of the crosshairs. Me larfed it off at the time but now I've noticed, standing a couple of players distant from a wall and shooting off my pistol, the mark on the wall is at the top of the crosshair and not within the crosshairs.

Did'nt notice it b4 or is it summat new?
In game setting?

Any u guys got the same?
A cure? (No sticky tape answer plz)

well some guns arn't 100% accurate but if you were only standing a few feet from the wall i would expect the decals to be in the center. We you fireing in single shots or shooting like a mad ejit .

I'd expect shots close up to be off target.

IIRC the engine fires bullets "from the hip"(ie, bullets don't shoot out of the middle of your head). the cross hair on your screen is a view from the middle of your head. hence, if you can imagine...your gun and your sight don't quite match up.

There will be an "optimum" distance where the aim from your gun, and the aim from your line of sight/cross hair will meet. maybe it's 100 yards...maybe more, maybe less. I might draw a picture. yes, in fact. I will

LMAO at the pic. Next point GET RID of crosshairs full stop i think not needed anymore, it's not quake it's a game based on realism. By now im sure people should be expected to now exactly where there center of the screen should be. When runnning with a weapon in real life, one doesn't have a crosshair placed in front of there eyes till the look down the scope, why the fuck is there one in a game based on realism, whats not real is you can pick somebody with a headshot with a pistol, from a stupid long range, it just doesn't work like that.. A pistol is a terrible weapon to fire at any range, im sure most of you have fired an air pistol or something, well take it from me firing the real thing is even worse. Imho this would improve the game no end, after the first few months of playing quake, i ditched my crosshair, why because i never used it, it's all about natural aim.
