Lame cheating...?

Now, I know that a lot of people don't like the Tunnelrats C&H map but I can't understand why people think it is ok to hide remote turrets and/or defenders inside map bugs.

My team (well, ok, it was me

) had taken the objective off the enemy early on in the game and we built up quite a large lead with me defending the switch. Then a few of the enemy managed to destroy my inventory and eventually kill me while the rest of my team were off doing something or other. When I returned to the switch there was an enemy player and a remote turret above the ceiling of the corridor to the switch room. I complained about this tactic, then when no notice was taken, I jumped through the ceiling and knocked him off his camping spot.

I managed to take back the switch for a few seconds before getting killed again but when I got back there, there were at least two new turrets behind the walls and a player above the ceiling again.

We did eventually win the level (though it was a lot closer that it should've been) but I wish people (I'm not sure who was responsible or I'd name them) weren't so lame that they resort to what I (and I hope most other people) consider rampant cheating?

Yeah, personally i quite like tunnel rats (tho its a little too easy to hold for my liking), but the bugs do often ruin it.

Id say any deliberate exploitation of a in game bug is cheating, whether its hiding inside walls, or the inv station bug.

Unfortunately, as the exploit becomes more known the map becomes useless for a fair game. I personally don't like the map that much but I know others do. However, I think it should be removed because of these critical exploits right next to the only objective on the map. Maybe there is a tunnel rats 2 available to replace it?

Its a shite non standard map, who cares?
I've bin on the recieving end of hidden turrets on it, so I just tend to attack enemy base on it now, or don't play it

Yup its cheating in my book, shame because it could be a good map. Its a bit of a duckshoot for incomming enemys though if the structure defenders have their act together. There are worse things to plant than turrets BTW.

If there is a re-done version of the map out there, without the holes I'd like to see it. On several occasions i've been blown out of the map by a grenade explosion, and on one of these I was able to jet through the map back up to ground level, very bizzare.

My feeling is that anyone doing this deleberately and repeatedly on the public servers should be warned, then removed.

Well, it's a badly made, non-standard map and I care...

I wasn't making a point about the map, I was making a point about the "people"...

Oh, and the main problem with the map is that it requires co-ordinated, multiple player attacks on the switch area which is difficult when half your team run off and randomly attack the enemy base.

It may have been a point about the people, but if the map allows it its always gonna happen as we all know. So throw a new map in its place and then the llamas have to play properly.

Yeah, I liked Tunnelrats until the bugs started becoming a large feature of gameplay on there.
Its time to take it out. I'm having a clear out of the CTF maps atm and I was wondering if theres any new C&H or D&D maps (server side only) that people want added or considered?

Any suggestions?

Yes, I agree (rather reluctantly) in this case, but we (or rather you BW peeps

) need to be careful that the map cycle doesn't get dictated by the anti-social minority...

Well i'd like to see a map that requires the use of APCs. Some of the maps that make it too easy to ski to the objectives means that you rarely see anything but light armours.

Errr, skiing is more useful for heavies... I suspect any lack of heavies you might've noticed would be more likely due to lots of new players not knowing the advantages of heavy or not liking it because it feels so slow (well, and some of them clearly don't know what it is or how to buy it).

And how often do you see co-ordination on pub servers? Rarely, so u might as well do something that helps and is acomplishable alone. Wreck thier gens and camp thier spawns and thier reinforcements to objective dry up.
I have played it with organized attacks going on, but the defense had a couple of organized guys spamming bottlenecks with mortars with ammo stations behind them constantly restocking and stuff like that, people blocking your retreat etc, and even when u get past all that there 4 hidden turrets.
Just seems a bit of a yawner.
