Why is it that Lair is the only place to go @ 40+?
Im sick and <plz insert swearword of ur choice here> tired of w8in on lists... :bore:

Time after time it goes sumthin like this:
You send to whossname:"Lo there, can u put up a lvl 43 healer on list?"
Whossname sends:"k"
You send to whossname:"how many on list before me?"
Whossname sends:"x healer/shammies before u..." -x=sumwhere between 5 and 9-
Whossname sends:"Doubt u get in tonite...."
You send to whossname:"k... =\ thnx anyways"
:(:(:(:(:(:(
Most of the peeps and friends, who are lvl 50, that I've asked for good places to xp all say "Go to Lair.... I did.."

So I'm wondering: IS THERE REALLY NOWHERE ELSE TO FIND GRP @ LVL 40+ TO GET TO 50???

And yes: I'd really like sum cheese with my whine! ;)

Plenty of other places than the Lair to xp, depends on what you're after really.

The Lair is pretty much the fastest xp from what I understand because of the fast spawn rate (never xped there with my shaman on the way to 50 and I'm quite proud of that ;) ).

However, there's plenty of other places where the xp is just as high, but you either have to move round more or the spawn rate is slower.

If you have the SI expansion then Faraheim (the treehouses outside Hagall), Iarnvindur's Lair, Trollheim, Iss and Delling Crater are all just as good for xp.

If you don't have SI, then Raumarik is pretty good for levelling in too.
Find yourself a nice group of people to bash with regularly and I'm sure you'll level and have fun into the bargain just as quickly as if you were at the Lair cos you won't have to wait a million years til someone gives you permission to bash a mob spawn.

I used to start smaller hagbui groups. was great exp... not hard to find people to get one going either... But I bet there are thousands of other better places. but get a SM in the group and the hagbuis will drop fast.

The truth is, xp in lair actually isnt that fast, the trick is that its safe, and there are A LOT of mobs. This means less downtime, less problems with other groups, less organisation on your part as the groups there are easy to organise.

Some classes however do have an alternative to the level grind....

Shammy can team up with a level 50 as a End Regen bot

Healer can team up with ANY caster as a PoM bot, or if not Pac spec but with reasonable aug, a celerity bot.

RM can usually get groups with anyone anywhere as a PBT'r

Skalds can usually get groups in RVR anytime as speed providers. They can also get into groups wanting to hunt in far flung corners of Midgard (Vanern, Malmo,Delling)

As far as nice group spots go, although there are not many as good as the lair, there are certainly many which are more fun. Iarnvidurs Lair is a favorite of mine, purely because its almost always empty and there are some tasty drops in there. Also, most of the mobs in their are social, which means nice group bonuses.

The reason that Lair is so good is the organisation around it - theres always ppl there and it works like a machine. As has been said it might not be the best place to exp on, but since the trick when exping is to get a steady grp togheter, one that can go for hours and hours (and then some) it could be hard going elsewhere since ppl are always leaving or have to go afk. In Lair there's always someone to fill in - you wont have that advantage in say TH =/

But then again - it will prolly be alot more fun exping elsewhere if you do get a steady grp running. Anyway, the only real reason for hurrying to 50 is rvr... rest of the game is basically the same no matter your level^^

Do a search in here for trollheim raid. Organize a few of those, heard it beats lair xp hands down...and unlike lair there is room for almost everyone (to a certain degree offcourse). Only one I can think off who arranged one is Archeon, maybe you should try and get a hold of him.

A few people did them before me (can't remember their names) unfortunatly it didn't go that well, unfortunatly i got dragged away for reasons i won't go into and was AFK for 1-2 hours (which i still feel rotten about... still, free XP :D)

Also it ended up with some groups having 2-3SM's and others having none. Think if i was to ever do one again it would have to be with pre-arranged groups so that everyone could benefit not just those that managed to invite the SM's first.

Still Trollhielm (when done right) is an awsome place to XP, quite a lot of the guards are insta/fast spawning so its more or less continuious again, when you get it right.

Hmm... i'l give it some thought, i know most of the SI dungeons are nice places to hunt. Especially TG people only use it for raids so the mobs at the entrance can build up quite a nice camp bonus and you don't have to worry about camp stealers/etc :)

The tree dungeon (i can never remember its name) is also a nice place for a laugh, 1fg can get some nice XP there and again because its SI = not often used = good camp bonus. Some people need to learn to hunt smarter, not harder me thinks :)

Aye lair is rubbish....

I decided to get to 50 via the Wyverns in Raum, maybe less exp but was alot more fun than sitting on DT hill waiting for that all important "it's your turn" PM.

If you are going to raumarik, try the fenrirs in the forest (similar levels to drakulvs) or the icestrider interceptor camp for the low 40s - which u can set up to auto pull.

The other thing I have found that works really well is to get a grp based around 2 lev 50 tanks (or close) and a lev 50 healer (or close) - and another 2-3 people 40+ for a bit of a PL and u can kill all the mobs around princess (succubus, crawlers, mahr and nightmares) and the princess (most likely if u r organised - PBT a big helper here) and make a pile of xp and decent cash for the 50s/high 40s.

One thing I have done personally as one of the low 40s people in a group like that is to /autosplit S - this means u get cash splits but dont get any seals - works as a great incentive to get lev 50 players to PL you and make some cash for themselves.

One thing to bear in mind is that a fg of 8 people is not always the way to go. Sometimes you are just unnecessarily dividing the xp.

The posts btw suggesting that skalds are only useful for their speed does annoy me tho. Skalds are great in groups - especially zerk/savage/SB groups (most of them these days) for their dmg add.

They also provide backup mezzing which can be a lifesaver when everything goes to crap and can pull well, help box mobs with their DD shouts AND provide a speed boost if its a long journey.

Every group should have one IMO - bit of a rant, sry - but am tired of people in-game and on the boards calling them gimps just because they have seen some l337 d00d prick call them gimped and they are sucked in by it.

The other thing I am tried of is twats who think it is impossible to xp without a shaman with end regen - "I need end regen - we need a shaman, etc, etc". Newsflash guys - me and many, many others xped to 50 before shamans even had end regen and before SMs had PBAoE. Here's a tip if you are one of them - sit the f@ck down between pulls instead of whining - u will find your end bar regenerates, as if by magic. Yes I KNOW its faster with a shammy but we can't always have what we want.

Sorry went off on a bit of a tangent there.

The time where men were men and drakulvs were happy... and lair a even harder place :)

Oh.. and back to topic. Throneroom in Trollheim beats lair hands down, the only bitch is getting there.. I'd suggest 1fg pbae group perfectly balanced for the ultimate XP down there. Instapop and loads and loads and loads of mobs to pull.. The only downtime is for the SM's and healers to get their pow back.. (hard even with pom 5) And good loot is an additional bonus.
