Lag!

Can anyone out there shed any light on the lag problem which has been going on for most of the day? I have gone Link Dead more times than I care to remember. Once a day I can cope with but every ten mins is really taking the piss.

I think it was because every one is downloading the patch.

It pretty much sucks though, it happened to me 2times last night (Although I think my connection died one time).

Almost everyone is lagging out, I think the servers are having some issues with the patch downloads...perhaps.

they could at least check for patches against servers that are not game servers. easy to code etc. twats.

Was not at all patch related, just bad luck that a router decided to go boom just one our first 1.45 patch day...

The lag seems to of cleared up, know if only they could patch it so the client doesn't keep dying on my PC i'll be a happy bunny.

I had literally no lag at all the 3 hours or so I was playing. All 3 indicators on my Perf meter were green permanently.

Yes it had cleared up later last night. Afternoon and early evening were atrocious though.

what is this perf meter you speak of?

Shift + P.

Like a Q3 lagometer, except it shows 3 symbols: Ping/Packet Loss/<a.n.other> and those 3 show their status via their colour: Green/Yellow/Red.

Except it doesn't work yet, all 3 are always green

Well I have cable, so I wouldn't imagine me getting a load of lag anyway.

Whereabouts are the servers actually located? France?

Lag in these types of games is rarely client bandwidth related, its usually the server not being able to shift packets quick enough, or the route between you and the server. I had 2mb cable when i lived in Amsterdam and for the 4 months i played Everyquest a few years back i was never lag free due to poor routing.

Yeah but all the EQ servers are in the states though.

I had a poor conn when I played EQ for the month or so I played it in '99, and lagged quite a bit...
