Lag

Having purchased a subscription (well i got it free when i bought a game but that makes no difference) I am amazed to see that when playing counterstrike there is a serious amount of lag. I know that its not me as all players seem to be complaining about it. I have played the game long enough to have played barrys for free, so i know my settings are correct.

So the question I ask, is will people ever take paying for a service that is clearly worse than say a free play service like Blueyonder?

Yeah I got all my net settings maxed out and get 0 lag and 0 choke on BW servers, more than can be said for Jolt

Also whilst BY have some lubberly servers, they are going P2P soon too and are currently subbed by all the BY ISP users

There has never been a problem with lag on the cs servers since p2p was introduced. I think they're like only a couple of cs ports per box and have always been pretty tasty.

Well I have played on barrys for what an hour today, every round start the server stalls, constant lag, and every player was moaning about it. So, as I say, they need to get the finger out.

BWCS? Because afaik they have been empty all day.
You sure you are on the right servers?

However, if there IS a problem, I would suggest a visit to #game.cs and have a word with Hotteh and see if anything can be done

The servers are named game.net 1,2,3,4 etc.

There are Barrysworld servers (if you scan with ASE) but not the real barrysworld that we all know and love.

Right come on now, this aint no Miccy D's, I know where I am talking about, I admit that when it comes to technology I am as advanced as an Acorn Electron without the tape drive, but I will not accept that I am in the wrong servers. Either that or I am going slightly more insane and should start to wear the earmuffs again!

It appears to be a now and then problem, I played for an hour today and it only crashed what 6 times, not cs before someone asks but the server, I know this as when I rejoined everyone is a zero score and complaining about timing out.

So, back to the start, does barrys ( game.net ) expect users to take them seriously if this is the status quo ( and no not the slightly rock band from the 70's )

Nino , I spoke to someone on irc about this yesterday.
Its not a barrysworld server as such, its rented by cs central. Here a a link to thier website, and on there you will find a forum to air your veiws mate .

As you can see, its rented by the website, and you really need to speak to them about it. I have been on there, we have no rcon capability, or anything else Im afraid.

Cheers mate, but i suspect that that is not the issue at hand. I would understand that if the server is rented then if would normally be set up by game staff?, so I would then wonder whether the others are the same.

Its not an issue anyway, i just come on for a wee blast when there are none of the boys about. We have booked a server tonight for a wee blast to seee.. so I will come back then..

Having said all that, we have had some wierd lag on the Game cs servers yesterday, so I dunno if it's related, as usually they are the most perfect servers I can imagine.
Btw, Im sure you dont need a BW (Game.net) subscription to play on that server either

You can play on BarryServers without subs I believe throddy

Well we had a wee bit of praccy on Game.net bookable server on Monday and have booked again for the following Monday.

So far it didnt seem to bad, there was a small amout of lag but nothing to write home about, although one of our clan had problems with some loss.

So we will wait and see but its much improved on my origional thoughts.

All will be revealed when we have a match. Tbh we dont have anyone to play at the mo so it may be some time.....(dont take it that seriously)

The Barryservers are indeed free for anyone to play on -as long as the owner wishes to let the public run rampant on them.

You will find the actuall game.net subscription servers run very nicely, which was nice and refreshing after a long period of server issues before p2p.
