Righty, first off I dont know if this is the right forum, apologies if it isn't to the regular folks who whup the candy asses of people posting in the wrong place...

I'm using klient, first off I wondered if anyone knew how to make it flash (or play a sound/beep/whatever) like mIRC can when there's stuff said and the window is minimised, without it being in the systray (i never notice an icon flashing down there), or if theres an IRC program that opens multiple servers at once, and can do this... tried mIRC, xIRCon, bersIRC and one other I don't remember the name of...

Anyway, any help much appreciated...
:)

got your klient answer snoopy

In the preferences, the default behavior is to only highlight a window’s tree item or switchbar button when new text occurs and the window is minimized.

You can, however, change the preferences so that it will highlight whenever new text occurs and the window is not active (not just when its not minimized).

You’ll find that in the ’Advanced’ page of the Preferences, under ’Tree and Switchbar’... it’s the ’Always highlight on new text’ settings.

You realise you could just launch the same .exe multiple times? With no need for two installs.

yes, but that wouldn't save the server setting as seperate ones, so you would connect to whatever server you connected to last every time you opened irc. what i did is just install it once and then just copy the dir however many times i need it and run the exes. that way, you open whatever irc you want, and it connects straight to the server with no need for the extra hassle of typing "/server irc.blah.blah" or whatever...

My assumption was that people weren't going to be using the horrid vanilla mIRC skank, and would use a decent script with some sort of profiling (a la P&P)

What's all this about multi-installs for mIRC? I installed it one, in one directory, and have the one desktop shortcut pointing to the .exe. I open it once, and connect up to Quakenet.net. Then, I minimise, open mIRC again (a new window pops up) go to options, and connect to gamesnet.net; no problems encountered.
That's what you meant by connecting to multiple servers isn't it?

Best IRC client out there imo, and very good mulitple server support (I use it constantly)

My God! The man is RIGHT! BersIRC is much neater than its competitors.

yesss xenon, but if you're truly lazy and can't be arsed with the extra hassle of having to connect to more than one server with one instance of irc, you have multiple instances all set up to connect to different servers automatically :)
