KISS DVD Player

Problem is, it strikes me that including divx support is a really short term perk cos as soon as a new divx format comes out it won't support it.

Unless it's upgradeable, but it's not is it?

The latest Firmware added DivX 3.11 support so I would imagine they could add support for future Divx releases via other Firmware updates.

I'm not sure there is any merit in ultra high quality dvd players. I dont know if anyone else notices this, but dvd is great for freeze frames and viewing stationary object, but as soon as things start moving, the image blurs and gets hard to focus on. Or is it just me ? :)

Then again, maybe I should invest in a high quality DVD player

Well, my £150 wharfdale dvd player (which I was quite fond of) broke down, and I got a £70 cyberhome dvd player on loan while it was fixed. The cyberhome is *dire* but then it didn't support RGB so that's a major factor.

When the wharfdale couldn't be fixed, I payed an extra 50 for a toshiba 520e. It kicks seven shades of shit out of the wharfdale. Seriously, quality is SO much better. I used to think "pff, dvd's a dvd, image quality doesn't change" but it really really really does. My 200 quid tosh 520e is fantastic, but I can't imagine what a 4 grand dvd player with component outputs would look like tbh. A bit spiffy, I should imagine.

edit: ok so I can imagine then. :\

the player is intresting and the network compatible one seems nifty, but then ane epia small box would much better, think Laup has one of these kiss players.

Oh yeah, also.. my chipped xbox does all that that kiss thing does. But it also plays lots of games (xbox/retro)

It's particularly spiffy.
