I thought it would be crap tbh but it was great.

If you like movies like The Last Samurai and Braveheart then you will love this movie.

And Merlins reminds me of a jamaican-high-on-something-24/7-rastafari :eek7:

was much better than I thought it would be, and is very impressive on the big screen with the sound so loud you can feel it :).

I saw it and I havent really decided how good it was. Its not awful, its been getting really bad reviews, but they should be ignored.

It does look amazing, its very well made. It is just missing something though, you dont really empathise with any of the characters, and-

Arthurs outburts to the heavens over lancealots corpse made no impact, and seemed out of place.

It maybe needed to be a little longer, with more character and plot development. By all means go see it for an unusual take on the Arthur myth, and some very cool battle seens.

I'm looking forward to seeing it; been a fan of Clive Owen ever since he did Privateer:The Darkening. Classy game :)

lol, I see I'm not the only one who always thinks of that game when I see Clive Owen.

Clive Owen isn't exactly the best actor in the world -- he is more 'brooding presence' than man-of-action. He did his best however, and in places he was rather good.

I liked the premise and the setting of the film. Expected it to be the pits, but was pleasantly surprised. Good enough to go see again :)

I thought the film was bloody awful, it had all the quality of a tatty tv production, generic battles, and a plot which must have taken all of ten minutes to put together.

buy excalibur on DVD instead

As soon as I booked my ticket at the cinema I thought "It will probably suck." so I ordered Excalibur to console myself with :)

Anyway, off to see it Thursday :/

"Excalibur" is a great movie, but I also like "Camelot" - the 60's musical with Richard Harris (God rest his soul) as Arthur. There are so many different versions of the story I think it's a refreshing change to have a new angle on the story.

Har har I saw the ending the First Knight a while ago (providing it was that film with Mr Bond in it) and it looked pretty bad, just saw King Arthur and it was sorta average I guess, coulda been worse.. I coulda been watching Home on the range ;o

A good idea, but doesn't really work. I like the idea of a Dark Age Arthur, and I liked it visually, but it lacked the epic feel that anything Arthurian should have and Clive Owen lacked charisma or gravitas or something to make you believe that he was this great war leader. It was also another riff on the Seven Samurai, which has been done to death. Not a truly bad film (I'd watch it again) but (like Troy) disappointing all the same.

Then again, Seven Samurai has been ripped off in pretty much every single action movie since it was made 50 years ago ;) So no change there then :)

The film didnt give me the impression that it had ever seen an arthurian legend. Might aswell call Arthur for Bob... all hail King Bob.
