Since this i think would have been slightly on topic, i thought id post it here.

Went to see this movie tonight :D, but as a heads up, dont expect this to be anything to do in the slightest with the game. right at the start the first thing it says is basically 'weve changed the story completely', and its true!

it has nothing to do with the original arthur stories in the slightest, those who liked braveheart will enjoy this film tho, cos its basically braveheart type story using a roman times theme and CHARACTER NAMES ONLY from the arthur stories.

dont expect to be given any sizeable background information on any of the characters either, they pretty much just throw you in the deep end with everything and expect you to invent your own ;)

anyone else seen it yet? ;) opinions purreese! ;)

Atleast the American's don't save everyone in this one.

"Look the british are fighting the romans! CAPTAIN CAPITALISM TO THE RESCUE!!!"
"And i'm his sidekick, Burocracy Boy!!"
"Quick Burocracy Boy! Call in the US Navy. Only their pink tomohawk missles can save them"
"But Captain, those romans have sticks with metal on the end"
"Jimminy Jillickers!!! Send in the Marines!!!! We'll show those Commys at the UN we arn't to be fucked with!!!!"

Nothing against America, a country which churns out stuff like 'Scrubs' and 'The Simpsons' can't be all bad. Sad to say i've yet to meet an American I didn't want to beat to death with a baguette (and yes before you start jumping up and down, I have been to America - twice for some reason)

An even better King Arthur series is the Winter King series by Bernard Cornwell

Cornwells Arthur trigology (Winter King) is one of the best ones I've read and historically set in the most appropriate setting, with saxons and celts fighting in post-roman times.I really hate Hollywood....

Word.

I haven't seen the movie and most certainly never will, I just can't stand legends being raped by cheap special effects, sorry excuse of a plot and $$.

lmao, totaly agree with you here :).

i thought the film was okay but they shouldve tried building the story behind the characters more and stuff.

ps watch Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, one of the funniest films ever.

Another "lets use a famous title to rip the audience off with for mega bucks!" (happens in games too, SWG has little to do with the films, and is no where near as good!)

Being a true brit, I regard "The Italian Job" as something that should be a pre requisit to all illegal imigrants as a part of true English culture. When the yanks annouced the new version I knew they would bork it up. And guess what, they did. The original was well thought, and most importantly, realistic. The new one is a crock of shit, and has pretty much f*ck all to do with Italy, and Charlie Crocker is a good ol fashioned English name, not the name for a snot nosed kid from Hollywood.

So this Authur is following the trend - "its called XXX but its f*ck all to do with XXX". I suppose the new version of "Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy" will in fact be about kittens, potty training hamsters and tarmacing the M25, and nout to do with the adventures of a paranoid andriod, an Englishman in his dressing gown and a chap from Beatleguese (sp :p). John Malcovich is in it, and as weird as he is, Im looking forward to the toilet antics of hamsters...not.

Fuck King A, Im creaming in my pants waiting for Alien V Predator!

Watched the trailers and shorts recently, the storyline looks utter shit (finding an ancient temple under the icecap...pff like that hasnt been done 1000 times!) and the plot tacked-on and unimaginative...and WTF is Lance Henrikson doing in it ffs! Typical Hollywood cash-in crap.

Still..Aliens vs Predators......mmmm...will have to suffer the crap it seems just to watch these guys kick the crap out of each other.

Gotta say i agree with most comments here...

America is a nation that just throws money at shit to make it appealing to their own fucktard citizens and denizens, because they are all to shortsighted and interbred to notice any real culture or history over the world. What they need to realise is that people are not, decent people east of US anyway, interested in them wankers glamorising would should be a legendary piece of work...our fucking history which WE take fucking pride in!!! It makes me sick!

Arthur should have been the good old classic story, about his knights, his trials...and should also have thrown in the story about the giant with a cloak made from mens' beards...thats cool! Much along the lines of "Excalibur" in 1985(was it?) the one with gabriel burns, patrick stewart and a few others...by far, and still is the best ever arthurian film. No hollywood glits, just good old british grit! Thats why british films generally are so could, cos we tell a story how it should be fucking told!

Anyway moving onto the comments about books...

D Gemmell is indead a good writer, but not my bag...but bernard cornwell is awesome! The grail quest series is particularly excellent, but havent read the arthur trilogy myself yey, and so that will be next on the cards. For those of you who like epic stories...read Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett....what an awesome tale!!!

Funny thing is that the historical evidence of Arthur is that he lived in the 5th or 6th century...so the classic stories that set him with knights were way out (seeing as plated knights werent around until about 1000 years later). By accident, this film (which Ive only seen trailers of so far) might actually be closer to the story of the "real" Arthur than the mythical figure. :)
