I share a computer with my Daoc-playing Missus. I've changed my keyboard layout and she's a bit miffed. Is there any way I can save multiple keyboard layouts? If they are stored in a file, I could write a script to copy/paste different layout files in. I tried this with the TOA\keyboard.dat file and it didn't work :(

Any ideas?

Copy ToA into 2 different locations and let her use her own settings in one instance.

Most games have some file which stores the keyboard layout etc for when you are playing, as their is the RPG and FPS setttings im guessing you could edit both of these making 1 good for you and 1 for your wife. (Had a quick look and couldnt see anything but im sure there has to be some .ini file with it in, if you do find it you can edit them with wordpad etc, just make a backup 1st incase)

I checked the user.dat and ye it looks like its the thing, shame they sorta called all the keys by number so its gonna be kinda tricky to change it :/

Take a copy of current settings. Login and change the layout for him or his missus. Take another copy. Create 2 script whcih each copy the man or his better halfs user.dat into the game drectory before starting the camelot.exe :)

Aye..what I did was set up my keys and then copy keyboard.datto another file then set up her keys and copied it out again. Then I used 2 scripts to copy these files and launch the program. All it did was nuke my settings. I reckon that keyboard.dat contains the default, RPGdefault and FPSdefault keyboard layouts, but I'm not sure why it killed my keyboard settings when I copied it in/out.

I'll try user.dat tonight...cheers guys!

Of coz it's nuking your setting since you changed the settings afterwards and when you copied the keyboard.dat, no settings changed due to the settings are saved in the user.dat. Just check the date modified of keyboard.dat and user.dat and you will see keyboard.dat don't change date modified when changing the settings, user.dat will however :)
