I work in a data entry centre and there are a lot of people who suffer from RSI. A number of tools are given to help like gel wrist rests, specialised chairs... However take a look at what was sent in the other day for a guy who has one injuried hand:

How do you type on that??!

I gave it a go and I just cant see how you can position your hand to use the keys correctly. Maddness?

Suprised you've not seen one before! Standard ergonomic keyboard. I've got one at work and have used it for a while now, pretty good :)

I assume you only type with your left hand then? Or are there letters on the right side aswell (cant see that from this piccy).

Is obvious, the left part is a compfy head rest, while you type on the right part with your right hand.

I guess it serves the purpose.
Means ya can't type with ya wrists resting on the desk in front of ya anymore, cos you have to move ya hand to odd positions to reach the keys. ALl that awkward moving about to different angles = no more RSI.

They never said it made typing easier did they, just helps RSI ;)

Just for the record, the photo came from my camera phone and yep its 100% real.

They are still trying to work out how to use it. I'm seen as the odd one in work who can't see how it can be used for data entry apparently?! :/

yer supposed to keep yer palm in flaoty position, ie yer palme dont rest on the edge of the board and yer arms edge os the desk, somat to do with blood circulation or somat. me dad uses em all the time, i cant having tried me typ0s are worse than normal.

its also been proved scientificaly to be free from RSI complaints once the users gets used to it.

I'm pretty sure I know someone who would buy one of these just for playing FPS games. Paradroid scorns the use of the traditional WASD keys and prefers to play the likes of Urban Terror and BFV by sort of hunching over the keyboard with his fingers splayed diagonally over the numeric keypad area.

I can't stand the old wasd layout. I've always used the arrow keys, ctrl for crouch, shift for walk/run, space for use, and enter for 2nd fire. I then use the ins/del etc keys for reloading, and weapon selection.

I'm pretty much a traditionalist when it comes to these types of game: WASD for back/forward and side-stepping, mouse for aiming, shooting, jumping and rotating, and a cluster of keys like SHIFT, CTRL, Q, E, R for the rest.

i used the arrow keys when i played Dark Forces:Jedi Knight, lightsabre fighting. Space was jump, left shift run, cntrl was crouch, space jump. Mouse for shootign. Diddnt use strafing thou.

Then i moved to WASD when i played CS. The arrow keys are too far away from the other keys to be useful for reloading and the likes imo. Circle strafing did take a bit of getting used to

I use ESDF for all games, converted to it after Tribes, gives more keys to the left side of hand than WASD.
