Haven't watched this channel for 12 months or so, but rediscovered it the other day. Whenever I turn it on it's showing rap videos featuring craptapular people such as Eminem ... isn't it supposed to be a rock/metal channel? *boggle*

It really is pretty terrible. I don't get why they have stuff like Eminem and D12 on there. There are no good music television channels at the moment.

The last time Kerrang TV played a decent video was December 2002.

That just mysteriously vanished one day. Some of the music channels (Flaunt, Scuzz, The Amp) are total shit. They don't even look like they were created by proper companies. Is it possible to own a channel on Sky or something? I wish they'd make a proper Metal channel..like Kerrang should be.

The Amp is far from shit, it's quality.

Scuzz plays a considerable large amount of metal I think, but I imagine the reason you don't see the sort of bands you like is because they don't do videos, or at least not videos suitable for TV. But that's just a guess.

I like the new-look Kerrang, but I don't listen to rock/metal anymore so...

I also like The Vault, sometimes The Amp and Q.

Ah I've never actually seen Amp. I thought they were similiar in format to Scuzz and Flaunt, so I just assumed it was poor. :)

I have to say though, VH2 and Scuzz are pretty much my music channels of choice now.

VH2 for the brit rock, indie sorta stuff and the occasional oldie and Scuzz for the generally harder stuff. :)

I watch Kerrang, the Vault, The Amp and VH2 i think it is.

I think i was born a decade too late, coz i missed out on the clash and the who.

Kinda weird that MTV the original never play much music, because they were the first channel to pretty much start the music video thing, and now they show shite like Punk'd and Some program about married music stars.

MTV2 is teh win. Sometimes. Gonzo is good, if you can tolerate Zane Lowe.

I tend to watch Q, VH1+2, Amp/Kerrang & Scuzz (and the classical music channel on 464, but don't tell anyone I said that ;)).

MTV just reminds me of the festering loos at festivals :|

on a side note p-rock shut down because they ran out of funds , probably due to the audience they were aimed at were smarter than the average bunch for other channels(the pop/dance ones) to phone in requests :/

Watching MTV2 does not make you any smarter than those people who watch The Box. It's all corperate shit, just aimed at you, rather than them. lamers.

yes because everyone knows songs played on TV are commercial evil , and if a song makes it to a large majority its obviously "sold out" and trying to cash in. Especially if they try and play reasonable music sometimes, that’s the big corporation messing with your mind.

If it makes it to a large majority, it's generally shite.

There are a few exceptions.

MTV really really is evil. It's not killing music, it's just killing the imagination of the future generation of music makers. It's making the idea of being a pop star seem abhorrant, when in the past you could be a pop star and make amazing music...not anymore.

There have been countless excellent songs that are very popular over the years. It doesnt have to be Belle and Sebastian to be good ....
(translation, it doesnt have to be unheard of to be good :) )

Having said that, MTV truley is the crappest thing in the history of the world in my opinion, and ,also imo, trys to bring all music down to the lowest possible denominator. I absolutely loathe it :/
