Not true. We looked into this at one point in Uni. The reason his head falls backwards is due to Force and Reaction. The bullet struck the back of his head pushing it initially forward but as the front of his face explodes out there has to be an opposite reaction to all that matter flying forwards which is his head falling backwards.
