Keeptakes rewarding enough?

So, in these past couple of days there's been several keeptakes, some of which have taken hours and multiple tries. Each of these times I've been thinking the same thing, why the hell am I doing this - I mean, sure, it's fun and all. But arn't I supposed to be getting something out of it aswell?

In comparison to the scenarios RP-wise it's rubbish - I might aswell grind scenarios if I want a proper amount of RP's. Which is a shame, cause I really do enjoy open-rvr.

Anyone else feel the same way or am I just lost as usual?

It's more fun thats for sure...

I thought there were area bonuses to XP/RPs also like there was in daoc?

Well, you get % bonuses to renown etc. when you own the battle objectives in the region.

its much better than the laggy clusterfuck with limited player numbers and FPS-like objectives that is scenarios, I dont care about rp, Open RvR is much more fun than scenarios.

There was a video posted in another thread that explains how the tier4 keep takes are advantageous. I didn't know most of this and it does make it sound a lot more interesting.

I'm assuming the PQ stages and dungeons opening up is where the PHAT LOOTZ come from :D

Warhammer Online keep stuff
Is supposed to be how the whole system works.

No epeen from damage stats in open RvR though xD.

I like my /stats heal epeen. 90k+ at L25 = owned. Nevermind that we lose scenarios mostly though - that doesn't matter! ;)

Joking aside to reply to the OP i feel keeptake rewards/xp need to be boosted. We did a few to try out the renown/xp vs scenario renown xp, and taking a keep (which takes 2-3 times as long as a scenario), only offers about the same xp as a very bad lost scenario (3-4k and <500 renown) in tier 2/3 or thereabouts.

Pretty poor - surely it should be the best xp/renown considering they count more than scenarios? Hell i'd settle for on a par with scenarios.

Hint: take keeps and raid citys when you have resistance, not when the opposing realm is far behind on the leveling part
that will probably give you alot more exp when doing these

Well, d'oh, of course. I'm not talking about taking empty keeps here, I'm talking about keeptakes lasting for hours with loads defending.

They should also give bonus for those defending the keep against attack. As it is now we get nothing for defending a keep for hours against an enemy attack, except the fact that we can taunt them for losing the battle -- and the rp that we got from killing them.

Active participation in a keep defense should give you either a ticking bonus, or a time bonus, e.g. if you defend a keep in combat for 1 hour you get xx rp bonus, 2 hours, etc... and active means = doing shit, not just standing there and renown farming -- something I've noticed a few players doing in Scenarios already.

I get bonus for defending keeps in Tier2, ticks for 100 rp every once in a while.

I havent taken any keeps in t3 so far, but if the rewards wasent so utter shit in t2 atleast, it might have been rewarding.
The renown gear on the other hand is 50/50, some of it is usable, but mostly is just placeholders if you don't have anything better, but you usually do:/

What I would like most is a world warning when places are attacked, so that people can have a possibility to come attack/defend and contribute. Last night on KEP we lost altdorf without me know D; made me a sad panda

for a tier 3 keep you get 900 rps for the take and 100rps every now and again for defence.

you also can get some of the bets loot in the game from killing keep lords.

I really don't care for the item rewards coming from a keeptake, sure, their nice and all, but it's rps and xp I want.

Well, in DAoC we did it to get the fakking alb scum out of our frontiers etc.. The pride of the realm.. For the celtic gods.. While they did it for Arthur.. ;)

In this game, im not quite sure tbh - I dont feel the same "love for the country" etc, and thats a shame.

yes. what this game miss, is a 3'd faction

2 factions dont create as much tention

thats what made daoc really great in the RvR, the possibilty to get totaly bumfucked by a 3'd party when fighting an enemie

Indeed, but sadly that's not an option. Not at this point anyway. :-(

After doing some keep taking the other night, I'd certainly say it's not rewarding enough. The effort and hassle is quite high, I could've just gone into a scenario and gained more realm points from it - possibly even more from losing the scenario compared to real world RvR.

The entire RvR system has been made too complex compared to DAoC. You could take all the keeps and objectives in an area and you're still unable to advance further because you don't have enough victory points.

Mythic took a winning formula from DAoC and missed it with WAR. At the moment the scenario play makes it feel more like WoW.
