Keep defence and bug abuse at Hurb!

Today I sent the following to RightNow:

"Today me and 2 friends, Borand and Laso went to defend the albion keep Caer Hurbury.

When the albions had beaten down door 1 and were attacking the 2nd door i noticed a wizzard standing inside the keep. Then when I attacked him a paladin came in too. Walking thro the 2nd door while it was still up.

The paladins name was Hander and the wizzards name was Nirrain.
The wizzard was also said to be using this bug at Caer Berkstad just 10 minutes earlier.
I send 3 screenshots to strengthen my story.

I will also tell the comunity about it via Barrys world forums.

I hope you deal with this as fast as possible and let the bug abusers take there punishment."

I also attached 3 screenshots showing both paladin and wizzard inside the yard fighting.

Will put them here when i get access to a ftp.

This needs sorting out cos its ridiculous and makes keep defences a total joke :/

And as we can see, and from a previous thread its only mids that bug abuse. Ban the bastards, people cannot be unaware of this bug an longer.

And if thoose people dont notice they are the only ones running into the courtyard, while the rest are hitting thin air where the door is supposed to be, they are just plain STUPID and BLIND.

The cg had a few 'htf did i get here' comments, followed by 'how the fk do i get out' when they found the 'new' door had been placed over the tower when we retook the keep.

It wasnt intentional, most ppl dont know how to fix it (can you) without doing a full install.

it actually made no difference in the keep takes as the defence had been cleared before first door was down, so it didnt swing the balance the attackers way or anything.

If they said it in cg then they must have been told its a bug etc etc. get out, but still they fighting on in courtyard.

Does this make it any better? What if there had been 20 defenders inside? I heard about this about atleast a week ago, and thought it was gone by know, but more and more people seem to just happen to run thru the 2nd door.

I got a little suggestion everyone in every Realm write a msg about this on your alliance chats. 1 time every hour rest of the weekend. Then people cant come and say hey i didnt know about this.

And in /cg's, group chats when you are goin on a keep take, if anyone is unsure, tell them to reinstall the game.

Is it so hard to reinstall the game? When this was downloaded i was beta testing Horizons but i logged on with my bot account and got theese files, reinstalled and have not had any probs with the missing door again.

Well no it isn't, but some people i know have had to re-install the game five times or so in one evening, now that can be frustrating, we paid extra per month this year and we still haven't seen why we had to, kind of silly and lame really.(account pages not working lately, fuck ups like this, slow patching)

then they are awear of that they got the bug so they shouldnt be close to the gates at all.

ive never used this bug or seen it used yet, but i think the only punishment people should get for it is a warning, i.e. be told not to do it again. This is GOA's (or mythic dunno which) fault, they should fix it and not ban the peeps using it.

its a bug like very other bug and using bugs equals bug abuse equals ban. Ban all who uses this bug imo.

We have just been made aware of the incident involving one of our guildmembers, Nirrain, and are investigating it with the seriousness it deserves.

Deliberate bug abuse is not condoned/tolerated by our guild.

We have also now briefed our entire guild on the importance of staying well away from keep doors if this bug occurs AND reporting the bug to Right Now, so if it should have occurred through ignorance, it shouldn't happen again.

Grivne, i can tell your majorly peeved here, and rightly so, seeing as some using the bug came in and killed you - that is abuse of that bug, when you are actively abusing a fault to gain an advantage. I have the fault too, and have tried the reinstall several times now, but only found it works if you delete all of the old gamefiles before you reinstall the new one. Don't ask for details, it was GoA/Rightwhenwef'kinfeellikeit's idea...

However, in defence of a lot of the people you would've seen bowling thru that door, it's bloody alarming when you first find out you have that bug! With the lag of even 30 people in front of me, my stopping distance increases as if i was in snow doing 200mph, and i have slid clean through into the courtyard, before realising i was as good as dead if i didn't get the hell out of there, basically (common sense and all). Second, seeing as i have this bug, when assaulting a keep and the first gate falls, i stand outside the first set of doors and whack at guard pops. This has often screwed me into the courtyard as well (ahem!) as /stick, or more often f8/stick will target guards inside the walls and i charge in without a clue.

Yes, there's now proof there that some have used this bug to gain an advantage - killing you - however, don't start getting all hard-boiled over it, we're not all "in it for teh moneh", some of us still play for fun :great:

I play for fun too nothing else.

and reason i actualy reported these 2 guys is that i heard of the wizard doing the same at the retake at Berk. Then I got pissed off, and no bullsh!t about he not knowing couse he was fully awear of what he was doing, casting debuffs and pbaoe inside at the gate. Im getting majorly pissed off couse there is no defence for it. No defence for anyone doing it.

As said before, atleast one of them knew since he had been doing it on other keeps aswell.

Not everyone has a fast conn. personally theres very little chance of me wiping and reinstalling the game if i got this bug (I play an inf so can legitimatly be in the courtyard anyway) but it would be a good 4hrs+ for me to dl the patchs. No chance tbh. (though it also reduces the chance of me patching as anything over 10k takes a year so I look at the patcher and notice ;p)

one has to be pretty damn stupid if you can walk through a door and not reach the insight that something is very very wrong and with that, meaning a bug has occured.

GOA once said something like this:

If you notice you suffer from a bug log immeditately and contact rightnow to solve it, using the bug for personal benefit is bugabusing and will be dealt with. (something about punishment aswell in the statement but I dont remember exactly). This was quite some time ago. Anyone else remember this? I cant see why it still dont apply.

Walking trough a door, killing people where it should be impossible is nothing but bugabuse and I would actually consider it cheating and nothing else. When I see people abuse bugs like this I just wonder..

If someone is so stupid to cheat in that way when its so damn obvious, what says many many others dont use other far more serious cheats as radars etc. This is just sad.

It is quite amazing that this thread hasn't slipped over to the fact that this bug reoccurrs, and it is GoA/Mythic's fault. Didn't we have a note and a little patch recently which was intended to stop us patching to the US servers once and for all? Yet it appears to still be happening...

To reinstall the entire game doesn't take very long at all, it's just a pain in the arse. But to wipe your current version and reinstall/patch the game all over again, even on broadband, takes bloody ages!! When you LD in the middle of a decent group then when you try to log back in, patch to the US version again, it really does get a bit too much...

Oh, and yes, Runie's bolting from the opposite battlements into the attackers on the door (those that can see it) is also lame, and counts as abuse of the bug, so whoever the culprits are, feckin' stop it or else you'll be reported by someone (and nothing will happen to you, either probably )

Luckily I never got the us download or whatever causes the bug as I was away from game when it happened.

So just to makesure I am not 'in the frame' here I got in the keep using my climbing skills! And it was me that mezzed the sb on the first pic and the text which the mid couldnt understand in the pic was something like ... 'using the door bug eh? I could have taken her on my own :/'.

If this bug wont get sorted out till we get the new keep patch then this will be exploited for a long while yet.
