JXL go bye-bye

Apparantly JXLs current #1 song (Little Less Conversation for those of you who don't keep up with the "Hit Parade" these days) is already being deleted by BMG, after only 4/5 weeks, in order to guarantee that Gareth Gates' new single gets to #1 unhindered.

Now if I was Junkie XL, I'd be mightily pissed at this, because BMG are killing off the single, despite it doing precisely what it set out to do: Reach #1 and stay there. All this in order to further their latest precious wank-idol. In my opinion if BMG were sure of the strength of their WA GG, then they'd let the two compete on a fair basis, rather than critically wounding one in order to assure an easy victory for the other.

So what do you lot think? Is this fair? Should record companies reward the work artists put into their work by allowing their songs to reach their full potential success without hinderance? Why should artists put up with this? Should JXL do something?

Discuss.

fuck em, they are both shit for different reasons, the JXL one was irritatingly ubiquitous within about 3 seconds of the Nike advert being on tv, and Gareth Gates is a Kareoke singer, admittedly, he has a semi decent voice, but he is just splurging out what he's told to sing.

Bring back Stevie Wonder!

Surely this only matters if you actually were going to _buy_ it ;)

The music biz is a total crock of shit and always has been. Major labels fuck artists (hmm GG is not an artist but you know what I mean) over left right and centre, this isn't anything new tbh.

I don't have any respect for JXL (hate cover versions, hate "remix" shite etc etc) but that is really shoddy of BMG and I'd rather have them than the clone that is GG (or WA GG as Sar says :)). Its sad that bands/performers who actually work hard to try and get noticed are totally neglected for a pretty boy wank stain who plays up on his speech impediment to pull mingers like that fucking Zoe.

Hmm I would normally have a profound and long argument/rant here Sar m8 but its Monday morning and I just woke up :) Sorry m8.

er... I agree with Sar! ;)

JXL aren't really 'getting fucked over' they only have a chart track because Nike had the millions to throw at the Elvis estate to get the rights. No corporate payment and it would have gone the way of all the dance stuff that samples Elvis or The Beatles, a minor white label.

They're both total shit, as is pretty much anything that gets to #1 these days. It's a damning indictment of the people of this country that we have to choose between a no-talent euro remix of a B-list song that no-one had even heard of before Ocean's Eleven and Nike, and a totally manufactured granny-pleasing retard.
