IMO, Ridley Scott's very promising early career and huge (and still never properly tapped) potential has finally succumbed to the problem that has dogged him most of his life - he doesn't know how to do story.

Pretty, yes. But he struggles with story. Increasingly so the longer his career's gone on. Early Ridley boardered on potentially visionary but his early hunger was replaced with complacency (happens to most successful directors - look at Speilberg) and he focussed on making things look cool rather than actually making them be cool.

Now he's remaking another of his own films. Easier to turn a profit if you don't actually have to do any hard work telling an original story. He already understands the subject matter and has already made "the" classic - so it's easy to riff on, eh?

IMO, artistically speaking, his career is in the shitter. He needs to produce a decent film rather than the absolute turd he's been churning out for years (Gladiator being a reasonable exception).

Shitting over his own work seems to be working for him...

It's not a remake scouse.

It's a rehash of Blade Runner after he's just done a rehash of Alien.

He's already got form for fucking around with the old movie which was doing just fine on its own, thankyouverymuch. Ultimate edition? Rutger Hauer at the climax of his own story saying "I want more life father"??!

Fuck that. It's crass commercialism from a crass commercialist. I'll watch it - in .mkv format.

Han Shot First, you know. :)

And it's still the most overstated, blown out of proportion, wannab important bit of statement around :p

Anyhoo, great excuser to watch blade runner again. Looking forward to this too, about time cyberpunk comes to this century.

Re-hash? You mean a prequel of Alien, which he's already said has little in common with the other films?

Considering it's his movie, he can do with it what he likes. If you disagree so much, you wouldn't be pirating, stick by your bitterness and don't watch it at all.

Also, Scott is Lucas.
