I'd been experiencing countless numbers and varations of crashes with DAOC ever since catacombs was released. I tried reinstalling the game, updating drivers and even when my old graphic card fried and I switched to PCI-E, the game still crashed.

After a million crashes I just made my peace that the game crashes randomely.

HOWEVER: one day, totally besides the crashes, I started thinking about if I'm actually using dual channel RAM so I was fiddeling around with the memory sticks

I have 2x512 ram and 2x256 ram all DDR400 and for some reason I switched the memory sticks around. 512 ram to slots 3&4 and 256 sticks to slots 1&2.

This is the best part: the game actually NEVER crashed at all when I did that. Don't ask me why, I don't know. I would think that if a memory stick was broken it wouldn't matter in what slot you put it, it would still crash, but there it is: switching the memorty sticks arround actually solved all my problems.

Maybe something to try out if you experience random crashes like: crash during LD, crash loading into NF, crash zoning or porting to specific zones, "destination zone could not be loaded" resulting into crash.

Just my 2 copper
