You've probably played everything else, so just look at the exclusives.
Drake's Fortune
Gran Turismo 5
Heavy Rain
LittleBigPlanet
Demon's Souls
etc.

GT5 If you enjoy driving (it's what I bought my PS3 and big tv for).
Loved Assassins Creed 2 but I wouldn't get the whole series as it might get a little samey. Story is good though, even if it is a who's who of famous Italians.
Wipeout 3 is great for post pub/club.
Batman is decent but I did get bored with it towards the end.
LA Noire is interesting for a change of pace.
Quite enjoyed Uncharted 2 but it's got no replayabilty. Felt like an interactive film to me.

I thought LBP is average if your not into spending hours and days creating a single level it's just llike any other platformer boring after 5mins if your not 5 years old.

GT5 is a poor mans racing game compared to Forza, sorry but GT had it's day back on the PS1/2.

Just be careful of what multiplatform games you buy, often the PS3 get's a poor version compared to the Xbox version.

Yea im seeing how im fixed financially after i buy presents/food this year and hope to get a PS3, pretty much just buying it for GT5 and 1-2 other games, prices still steep over here 250-300e :(

This 315 euro offer with 4 games doesn't look too bad from Argo's

Nah its brand new , he got it free with his phone contract and he knew ive been after one for a while . I was expecting him to say £100 or something but he said £50 so i was over his house before he changed his mind lol

The only downside is its the 160gb version but im not gonna moan for that price ;)

What's wrong with the 160gb version? Hard disk on consoles doesn't mean much unless you intend to fill it with videos, even then you can buy a 500gb for cheap and put it in.

I've only got a 60GB version from 4 years ago, but it's the one that can play games from all 3 Playstations.
For example, the PS2 version of NFS:MW plays great upscaled on my PS3. I can always plonk in a larger capacity 2.5" drive whenever I want (or when I can afford one!)

You've already had most of the suggestions about games.
I'd say Gran Turismo 5, WipeoutHD and add Metal Gear Solid 4.

wut? you can play on a 50 inch TV using your PC as well :s but I guess it's a lot cheaper to do so on a PS3/360 .. since to buy a PC which can run Arkham City at max resolution on a 52" pc will set you back a bit

About £200 probably. The resolution won't go higher than 1080, regardless of the size of the TV. Monitors on the other hand can but for anything significantly more than 1080 you would end up spending more than buying a 52 inch TV

I have to admit that the title on PS3 that I got a lot out of was Infamous.

I picked up the first three Assasins Creed games because I had to get rid of vouchers and they were £10 each. The ending to the original Assassins Creed is gash and left me feeling cheated. It's clear that there is an over-arching story which I'm glad I can do in one go rather than the multi year wait others must have had.

I've also found Wipeout to be enjoyable and well put together but that's probably because I got it for free when Sony fucked up PSN.

LittleBigPlanet is ok but don't buy it for more than a tenner or borrow it off of a mate.

InFamous I got for free after the hax, but have yet to play it. I'll give that and Dead Nation a bash over Christmas I think. Also started ACII but never got going, so I need to attend to that as well.

Oh, and continue to play the absolute behemoth that is GT5. Soooo much to do. :D

Infamous is okay, but gets a bit repetitive after a while.
If you're a completist, make sure you follow some sort of online guide where all the sub missions are.
