Heya all, old Strondor here! How you all doing?

Its been about 5 months since i quit Daoc and i still miss you guys. My Daoc addiction is still bubbling under the surface and i regularly dream of what i'd be doing if i hadnt quit, but i .. must ... resist... the temptation.

So instead i vicariously (oo big word!) play daoc by occasionally reading these boards. They still make me chuckle and bring back happy memories. But they hardly give a complete picture of what's going on Excal, so please gimme all the gossip!

eg:
How's RvR now that you've all hopefully finished doing all that mind-numbing TOA pve stuff? (something about master levels and artifacts???)
What's the current FOTM? (forgive the tautology) (gah 2 big words now lol).
How's First Cohort doing ? (no FC webby :( )
How's the new strondor been playing my char? (i feel a bit like that jail-bird character from the Simpsons when his sports car has been bought by Homer hehe)

Tell me anything, just gimme a DAOC fix now hehe!

'Hope you are all having fun,

Strondor

p.s. I know this is in the rvr section, but this was always my favourite section of bw / fh. To keep the mods happy here is a random token rvr post (feel free to cut, edit, paste in future if you're bored, want to increase your post count, and cant think of anything to post, hehe):

Topic : FAO (roll d6. 1-2= ALB / 3-4 =MID / 5-6=HIB) at (roll d6, 1-2 = AMG / 3-4 =MTk / 5-6 = ATK) lastnight.

My darling Strondor,

It was so good to read your words and to find that you are, as I suspected, doing well. I too have given up DAOC since coming to Oxford and also find that the boards, combined with watching movies and looking at pictures of MG zergs, are a good way of satisfying my need to run around whilst waving my arms in the air whilst shouting "MEZZ FFS!" before realising that I am the sorcerer.

Of course, I still play some games. I got an Apple G4 PowerBook for uni so that I would be unable to play DAOC when I came here, but I got a copy of Diablo 2 on eBay. I still browse eBay, looking to see what the current going rates are and to see if there is anything I would consider purchasing. You may be interested to know that your old "friend" Krane is selling his wizard and minstrel!

When I found out you had quit the game, I was sad that I had not had the chance to say goodbye to you. You were a GOOD guildleader, player and personality and I remember you very fondly. Ambulance has also quit, though I did run into him on Prydwen over the Easter holiday, where I was playing on a friend's account.

I've no idea what is happening with FC but it looks like some of the more fun people quit, leaving Konah mostly on his own. FC now stands for "F***ing C**t". ;)

I saw your theurgist at ATK when playing over Easter. Suffice to say...rather grim colour choices on the cloth! Tut tut.

I remain, sir, your most humble Apathy.

Hello, old friend... (no points for guessing what Sci-Fi series I'm a fan of!)

Can't really say much about the current RvR situation, as I'm still in the final stages of finishing off my ToA setup (the setup I've finally settled on has 7 artifacts, only 2 of which are level 10 so far! :eek7: )...

I have actually quite enjoyed ToA (you can call me a masochist if you like), as RvR was becomming a bit of a grind and I needed the break... But I think I'm ready to face the new challenges presented by the addition of ML's and artifacts into the RvR arena.

We've all missed you terribly in FC... and not just for the fact that your tall, robed , white-haired figure was a sure-fire way to keep the Savage aggro off the Clerics! ;)

Good to hear from you again, and I hope you manage to keep the DAoC addiction under control and enjoy life in the real world!

hmm no, more like the dead-wood/wasters/part-timers/pve addicts and just plain crap players such as yourself, are nearly all gone. FC is in better shape than it has been for years. bar the loss of Rats, who got a job <shudder> and was chasing some girl :) and noret who quit when ToA popped and he found his machine couldnt handle it and/or couldnt face months of pve :( and i dont blame him. altho tbh, it hasn't been that bad and is almost over now \o/

lo stron, hope things are kool and ur still off the smokes? ;)

have one on me :drink:

Ah my dearest Apathy!

How I have missed your exquisite wit and bawdy ripostes that used to light up these message boards!
Are you sure you are not the love child of Stephen Fry and Frankie Howard? :D

I trust you are behaving yourself in those Dreaming Spires and that life is treating you well.

p.s. I hope that if you come across new-strondor in the future you will give him an appropriate make-over!

Even better to hear that you're still enjoying the game and that Alithiel will soon be back in Emain "shakin that ass" !
On that note, although "Alithiel Brightblade, Banelord" does sound rather uber, shouldnt she be a "Banelady?" hehe :)

HEEEEEEEEY!!!11one

how is it going mate! nice to read from you hope all is ok irl ect :D

i grped once some months ago with heirof - hes a good guy, but allways a pain when i meet up your chars.. reminds me of the old times - well old for me.

fc changed orientation to one fg semifixed grp - which will be good for rvr but is bad for toa, we still have fun tho and thats what matters :)

best wishes strondor mate - drop around more often and in mirc too :D

Hello Strond!

It's wicked to hear from you again old man :)

As you've been in contact with Beeky I'm sure you're aware we 'peeled off' FC after your sad departure to pastures greener.

Forming a guild just before the torrent of TOA was a fun experience, but never to be attempted again (we're all big wubbly family!) Set up properly now, we've welcomed back many of your old friends into our arms (in no particular order):

Jephtha (a proud father now)
Taema (now on his ickle wee man)
Kerith (he got lost in Sunderland for a few months)
Achaius (a father for the second time today...he's hoping)
Beek (missing you terribly)
Solly and Milky (aww)
Obsy (Mcdonalds...he'll kill me if I tell you where he works)
Nerve (he's back the rude c**t!)
Cullyn (! although very busy at the mo working)
Jilson (keeping me sane)
Ash (the wildcard!)
Amaru (the big fat E&E moo from Pryd).

That's the full member list in fact, so you can see we're a happy family, complete with an A to Z of Michael Jackson jokes and off the cuff humour, that you know and love us for!

Ambulance, Tilda, Thire etc all took the opportunity and moved over to Hib/Pryd where they're having a wicked time in a guild similar to our own (ps Ambulance, Tilda - take Thire's move and pop back on as an Honourary member to say ello!)

TOA is pretty good, if not a little tiresome, but the atmosphere created by that rowdy lot makes it all worthwhile. RVR is looming not far on the horizon, looking forward to ending our days on the battlefields.

Anyway, all is good, better than ever in fact, and we all miss you terribly! Your name must spring up in /gu at least twice a week. If you ever return and need somewhere you can call home, you'll always be welcome back in with your friends!

PS: Parlain and I were chatting about meeting up for a bevvy in London at some point in the near future, I'm moving to London to start at Abbey Road in July. I know Ambulance is up for it, the drunkard, so make sure you pop along :)

 to you Stron

LOL lo m8. I'm afraid to say that u r a gnats nad away from restarting if u post here!

As u can see Konah's treatment has been a terrible failure and he is back to his happy old self again :( I am going to suggest his therapist tries him on flower arranging this time. J/K Konz u fluffy ole bunny. :fluffle:

Anyway that aside, u will see that u r still missed by the "fun, time wasting, pve whoring, plain crap" element of the game :)

If u stumble thro Canterbury at any point and see a minging student busking, just say "hi eggy" and walk swiftly by!!

As a wise man once said " Once a cleric plays a droood they never go back " ;)

anyway pop into london when you get chance as Eggy is buying the beers and tbh getting a beer off a student is like getting payback out of all the taxes i pay to educate the gimp !

Ello Strond,
I still miss you, I find myself sometimes watching my movie thinking of you.
I, like Ali have enjoyed ToA a lot, I dont know why, I just do. Ok some of the artifact leveling (artifacts are items that gain stats as they level from 1 to 10 on specific mobs or in specific locations) can be slow like a gem I have that levels in DF during the day time.
Pryd is good fun, but I miss all my friends on excal :(
Eggy, Beeks, Maramar, Ali, Parl, I'm thinking of you!
Beeks how's your smoking, or lack of it doing? Have you given in to the dark side?
I find myself being tempted to come back and do ToA on cabby, or roll a sorc or pally?!

Anyway, on pryd RvR is good fun, lots of fg vs fg fights. Now Loi are just about done with ToA room camping with FoP (font of power, gives you about 10% mana every 3 seconds while in range of the spell/font thats on the floor) and DD storms has never been so much fun!!
I dont know about excal but on pryd they have some interesting groups. Alb runs a very good cabalist debuff group while mids have tendancy to run mixed savage/Spiritmaster groups, with tanks bodyguarding the SM's.

I hope you are well Sir Strondor and life is treating you well.

hey Stron,

I'm back from southampton from the summer and after giving up the game. I also followed bw/fh and downlaoded endless movies just to know what was happening. Anyway i heard eggy and beeks had made this guild and i couldn't not see what it was like and i'm now back and hooked for the summer. I hope southampton is sunny and your doing well. I had he pleasure of chatting to the new owner of your acct it's actually two people a father and a son. The son tends to play stron whereas the fatehr plays Heirof. He was very nice and i had a long chat with him while camping an arti.

take care of yourself

student bum mike : )

ps. hello tilda/amb

Ambu: I'll always put a couple of quid in the back of my wallet to buy you a pint :)

Tilda: we're thinking of you too buddy, feel free to come and join the honourary member ranks in <Synergy>, or join on a guild raid. Same goes for Amb and Thire.

You're getting me so emotional! :sex:

Heya Strondor, nice to hear from an old school player :) I cant speak on behalf of FC, but I can see you have recieved some input from them allready. But in the larger scale of rvr, which you must have guessed from the boards, keeptakes are so much more fun and at the same time frustrating, more weaponry, tools etc to use. I also believe that open field rvr have benefitted from toa, as there are more viable setups to go for, which can only help change the game some. For tanks and support classes master levels are a must, but not so important for pure casters. Well anywyas we are all waiting for frontiers while we are finishing our TOA suits.
On a side note, how many of you all live in England? Because I will come over to stay with a friend during EURO 2004, so maybe there is a chance of sharing a pint or 2 :). Ill be in the greater birmingham area btw.
