Hi there,

Just wondering after a brief chat on /as a while ago because someone advertised an XP group .. Should /as be only used for RvR , or would there be leeway to allow XP group leaders of a certain level to advertise for members.
As it's hard enough to get a group for some people, this would be a nice touch, and efficient.

Please state your number and reason why / why not

1. Yes , /as should be allowed to advertise certain stuff i.e. xp / arti hunts ..

2. No , /as should be retained as RvR Offence and Defence chat only

3. < Insert non flame comment here >

I am not trying to designate what should / should not be done, all i want is an opinion , also preferable would be guild leaders comments on this, as they are the ones mainly involved in setting alliances up in the first place.

Thank you for taking the time reading this, all i would like is some knowledge about that situation.

That would prolly be a very insightful and valid argument if this was about CF alliance, but there is actually other alliances in hib/excal and i belive this particular thread is about the CBH alliance

Personally I've never seen a problem with /as being used for advertising raids, groups or even asking general game related questions provided you ask once (or for a raid maybe do a reminder every 15 mins or so).

What peeps should not do is spam the same thing every 30 seconds for a hour, if you're going to get an answer you will get it immediately, repeating yourself will only piss people off. That being said most of the spam comes from the 135324 people who make it their personal duty to belittle the person asking the question - if you're that bothered about /as spam then PM your reply!

Finally the same rules should apply to you regardless of what guild you are in or whether you are RR10 or RR3, there's enough elitist bull in the game :p

/rant off :)

Its rare nothing good ever comes out of as.. so i cant see why you should't be allowed to arrange xp grps on it.

I get enough spam over guild chat, group chat, BG chat etc....when /as becomes spammy too i find myself needing to turn 1 of the above off to keep up...and ofc it would be /as as the spam isnt needed by me. and so an RvR /as becomes useless.

EH left their old /as (a very friendly spammers r us alliance which we loved a lot) and came to join a RvR alliance to become more RvR active and usefull as a whole.

The /as rules are no spam...ONLY RvR related messages. its not hard to understand, and easy to see why its there. everyone should keep to that rule.

alliance's have different uses if the alliance you are in says this is for rvr not a free for all lets chat and setup xp groups etc etc then its upto the alliance leaders, guilds maybe in that alliance because its setup for rvr and no other spam information. end of the day if u don't like it leave

I think the games needs a permanent chatgroup. Not a CG 'owned' by a person, but one that always has the same name and is always there.
This would mean if you are needing people for ML raids, hard ARTIs or Battleground stuff you could use the CG to connect with alot of people.
The problem is who/what would control it. But I remember the TOA CG when it was busy and that did not have alot of spam.

they couldn't make that as there would be little need for alliances and such as there would permanently be a way to contact the whole realm instantly, omg 150 albs just ran past me etc

Yes, /as should be a way to allow people to advertice for groups, also for XP purposes. The key is no spam, eg as they said .. dont repeat it every 30 secs for an hour.

I only read the thread starter post so if i missed something in between soz -

ALLIANCE :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A close association of nations or other groups, FORMED TO ADVANCE COMMON INTERESTS AND CAUSES : an alliance of labor unions opposing the bill. ( Its my interest to defend our realm and make sure im properly equipted to do so ...IE .. /as Poc Group starting pm techpriest )
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A formal agreement establishing such an association, especially an international treaty of friendship. ( I dont feel much friendship when the /as police come on /as to give out about spam - so let me get this straight ..someone spams something on /as so the would be police go on /as to sort it rather than pm ? thats in most cases Ive seen myself ..sounds like fluffing random epeens to me )

Cant we all just get along :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A connection based on kinship, marriage, or common interest; a bond or tie: the shifting alliances within a large family. ( A large family ? a Bond ? if this is an alliance then whoever started the alliance shouldnt be leaders ..CF or CBH shouldnt lead the alliance - One single gm from all of the guilds involved should - as it is an alliance then we are all equal and more than that - if someone says something on alliance why should he or she ( who could be a mature 30 year old plus in rl ) be given out to in a game by a kid that could be 13 showing off to his friends )
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

now I know the points are only half there but its hard to describe what im getting at - again what i said is what i think only and u can take segments of my post and quote and argue all u want cause I couldnt care less - the point remains - the words AS POLICE are there for a reason - Alliance leaders cant deny ( even tho they will try ) that they house some serious fucking idiots with a big head who just wait for someone to say something wrong so they can flex their ingame power ...

my point stands ..why should anyone have 'power' over another to the point of embarassing them in front of 10 other guilds or whatever - and if that power is to be there why isnt it held soley by 1 gm of each of the guilds involved cause there is no way Ill allow myself to be given out to by anyone bar the one guy I answer to ingame - my current GM at the time --

And RvR should not be the only thing the alliance has to talk about - if its only about rvr u may aswell start an rvr chat group every day cause that is bullshit - people need things to advance as a realm - they need mls or armour quests or xp groups or poc groups --

<-- Blames daoc. The option of secondary chats turning on-off /asrvr or /aslfg & the ability to choose by a typeable command would be very simple.

p.s slightly off topic but is there anything currently to train spec points without receiving the free level.

Right clicking trainer and a window asking "would u like to enable the free lvl at this time" would be yet another simple, obvious thing to do <--- Blames daoc for the lvl44.5 leirvik training i cant acquirer.

Ha ! .. i hope your trip to Cork was an unusually long one :p

Thanks for the replies guys/girls , glad to see there are some people who dont flame every thread out there :)

If i was to consider E-mailing Mythic, i would ask for a chat channel implemented for such a reason - i.e. a generic chat channel to be used for advertising Arti hunts / Xp / PoC groups .. even epic raids.. which went out with the start of ToA.

Something like what was in SWG even , dedicated channels for different reasons, that way, /as would only be used for RvR and no /as police to flex their egos .

Keep up the poilteness guys, it shows that not all people are morons :D

I think he has a point tbh ^^ :)

I think the 2 channels idea would be the best solution, to have /as and /as2.

/as would be nothing other than rvr related info.

/as2 would be just a general alliance wide trade/xp/raid cg.

If people are so bothered about spam and really need /as for rvr info then they can switch the /as2 off. Pretty simple when you think about it

Hmm how about the alliance do like this

2 ppl make a Public cg call it PVE cg and then someone else make
Trade Cg.. then the only thing ppl could do is ask in /As who has Pvecg or Trade cg...it would reduce Talk not sure about spam cus ofc prolly many
will ask who has those cg´s but atleast it would reduce some spam
and keep As for rvr matters..

and prolly Guild members will see in AS who has the cg and be able to say it in Guild chat aswell..

well I talked briefly with kampf from CF last and suggested something along those lines --

However U cant have a trade cg and a toa cg and a xp cg etc etc--people will want to see whats going on in all fronts -

1 cg that covers everything bar rvr ...

thats the only way to solve this, players would have to make the cg because i really can't see a global cg being formed that everyone is in all the time. It wouldn't just be used for xp groups, it would instantly be the best way to call for help as everyone would see it without having to be in the same alliance or be invited to a cg.

i like that idea, add a channel like AS, Relamchat imo, if you dont like the spamm turn it off ;)
