I've found the opposite over the past 2 months or so. I used to get tons of spam through my Hotmail account and a trickle through my NTL one. Now I'm getting no spam at all through Hotmail, and I've just had 40 pieces of spam crap send to my NTL account. It's got so bad recently I've had to go back to Mailwasher, as that's since 7.30am this morning, and is fairly typical.

NTL wasn't too bad up until a few months ago. At one point I was getting maybe 8-10 spam message a day, but most of those helpfully had the word SPAM attached to the front of the subject, so were easy to filter.

So I told it to forward everything to a null address, and I now use my Uni mailbox

I have an ongoing dispute with Nildram.

Like all you lot, I have my Nildram account for "real" stuff and a Hotmail account for all those less trustworthy.

In fact, I never use my Nildram account directly, I prefer to go through domain names that redirect to it as I can't guarentee my Nildram account is going to be around forever, otherwise I tend to use my Nildram subdomain, so my account name is still hidden, so my direct Nildram e-mail is almost unknown out there.

I get tons of spam on my Nildram account now, this has been going on for about a year, it stands at epidemic proportions, and it is all sent to my direct Nildram e-mail, not any of my pseudonyms, go figure.

I suspect Nildram at some point got hacked and the entire subscriber list is on untold numbers of spammer directories. Its a bit of a giveaway when you see the To or Cc lines contain an alphabetical list of Nildram accounts.

In fact I get other people's spam, which Nildram deny happens. I get spam when my Nildram account is not listed in To or Cc, I get the same message several times when multiple receivers are listed in the To or Cc. I have been able to pinpoint which Nildram accounts are coming to me instead and I use e-mail rules to ignore them.

Other people, who are less personal with their Nildram accounts, are causing me to get their spam.

I have given up trying to explain all this to Nildram.

My Hotmail account is virtually spam-less.

I used to get unlimited spam to my hotmail account, even with the filters, but it seems to have improved alot of late. I probably get about 2 spams per day now, aa apposed to 20.

My NTL account (ooh back in the day..) eventually got so much spam I just deleted it.

My current email goes through my own (well, virtual hosted) server on my studentssocial.co.uk domain. I discovered that hidden deep in the depths of CPanel was Spam Assassin setup and email filtering rules, so anything that scores 6*+ gets killed totally, while I filter anything with 5* into my junk mail folder. This means I only get about 2 bits of spam a day now, both of which get caught by the excellent Outlook 2003 spam filter. I also have rules that 'junk' anything with Spam Assassin 5*, I've not had any false positives with that. I may even try it with 4* for a few months and see if I can lock it down any more

Some SPAM is coming through in rawer formats these days though, makes it an awful lot harder to detect it as spam using just rules. Hopefully Spam Assassin 3 (whenever it emerges) will up the pressure a bit in the respect.

I get about 500 spam emails a week to my hotmail account. Granted, it's about, err, 7 years old now, and I use it for pretty much all my web based signups.

Thankfully, the spam filter actually works incredibly well

That said, I keep on getting spam to my domain's WHOIS email address, which pisses me off when they say I've opted in. Yeah right.
