Population wise, it probably would be a good idea. However if there was no Emain then i'd imagine all the 8v8 people would get lost (aside from those that actually go other places occasionally, like say - Odin's )

However, it'd be pretty boring if it was just Mids vs. Hibs - tbh I think Mythic could have done a better job with the storyline (not to mention the games name) both of which seem to have had a huge influence on some players choice of realm.

3 Realms

Answered something similar in another section but the 3 realms are really the reason i am leaving.

Lots of long term players have left and i think it is for the same reason. That reason (i think) is the eventual realization that you can never 'compete' on level terms. You can never prove you are better than another player unless you play on the pvp server. This i think drives you on in the beginning but finally tires you of the game. You just get frustrated at not being able to prove one way or another you are better or worse than another player as you are so different. I can't really see how this could be overcome to be honest so for really long term play i think DAOC is sadly lacking for anyone of a highly competitive nature (lets face it we nearly all are). Got some friends that are still playing UO after 4-5 years and still enjoy it (pity the graphics are naff).

2 realms would be a bad idea i think, possibly easier too balance, but if one got the upper hand the pop diff in rvr areas would be much bigger
more importantly with 3 realms it means even an underdog realm still has a chance as the other 2 end up fighting, with 2 realms, if one got a low population it would probably never be able to recover, and more and more would switch making situation even worse

2 realms would probably cause more population issue's, but I think it would be better cause you wouldnt reroll chars at other realms every time . It would be good to remove Hibernia and sort the class abbilities from each realm evenly out between Albion and Midgard. But of course this won't happen after 3 years, it had to be done at the development fase of the game.

as someone sed previous, wth 3 realms even if u are the smallest with the other 2 always fighting makes it easy for u to go about yr daily business of rvr and kill as much as they do

with 2 if u are smaller, how could u ever recover? all the attention is always on you and no one else and will be non stop, 24/7 portal keep camping of 359125fg of the other realm with the only rp coming from the odd 1-2 non ress sick enemies being slain.

2 realms means that half of the people you meet are allies. Now its 33% average, and thats MUUUCHO better. Also its not much thats more fun then ganking a 2fgvs2fg enemy realm fight with one fg .
