Jumping from 1 XP group to another - opinions please ;)

Hiya,

Quick question, if the XP group you'd been in for 3 hours had left to 5 /release + regroup in innis with people leaving would you move to a group that you knew would be steady safe XP when you have friends in it?

I did this earlier as I was fed up dying because of XP hungry people in my first group. I feel awful about it but I'd just had enough of "we can do harder stuff" until we get group wipeouts. I know my characters limits and what we should be doing.

I got a lot of abuse from 1 person about this and apprently he'll never group me again because I did it

Sad thing is if I saw him die and I could, I'd still rez him

Jumping groups is always like walking on thin ice.
But in the situation you described above I would say that you did the right thing. Your group obviously was facing bad mobs and after 5 releases I would definately have gone somewhere else.

Imo a groupjump in this situation is more than justified. If your former group had worked well it would have been a different story but noone can ask you to die pointlessly in a fight they are bound to loose.

It's your game, play with the people you want. If you don't enjoy your stay in a group because they die all the time, you don't like the people, or you simply feel like doing something else, you're entirely justified to leave. However, it's nice to not do it in the middle of a pull, or in the middle of an aggro zone when they need you to get out. But after a group has died and is gathering some place again, that's an excellent time to leave if you want. Reading your story I think you've been more than considerate, and that's all anyone can ask for. Getting abuse from people generally means they are stupid people. Don't let it upset you too much.

In a less than conventional RvR group today. Spend a fair while getting people together...as you do, only to get to the point of leaving crauchon gorge and 2 people leave, healer inc.

The reason for this was a guild group. Ok fine. Guild group containing however 2 other guilds and a person with no guild.

I do not condone flaming pms, although i know how you feel when you send them.

This is not the first time this has happend from this guild and guilds like it, and for those who ask my opinions of these said guilds i freely give it.

When i find a guild worthy of my time i belive i shall merge my small amount of friends too it. But while this stuff goes on in the names of these guilds, or while there is exclusion from things due to guilds such as these i will be very happy where i am!

Yes most of you do it! Or are in a guild that condones it. And you are all to willing to turn a blind eye.

but while im on the subject of guilds. A friend of mine joined a guild a while ago a pretty damn big one. Only to ask the question " how do i get off a horse while its moving, not knowing himself" only to have numerouse people talk over him, of all lvls, without answering him after repatidly asking. This IMHO is appuling.

Been in guilds, met some nice people but now I'm independant again and enjoying it. When I was in a guild I'd still be loyal to the group first and guild second, which to be fair is probably a problem for most guilds.

I cant stand it when people leave groups because thier guilds asked them to, but it's a game after all so I just chill and look for a replacement

Everyone has thier breaking point and I doubt many people would have hung on for as long as I did yesterday. Oh and we even had 1 person leave us in EZ for a guild group lol

group switching really depends on the situation, but you should play with the peeps you want. Just try not to turn peeps down with leaving group at a bad time for a bad reason

Cos i've left grps after the grp was wiped for thr 4th time.

It's like a grp takes on say black wraith's and manages easy. exp isn't gr8 but it's steady. Then some1 says lets move to <insert much harder mob here> we can do them easy.

One pull .. Healer is wiped trying to save grp.. only for rest grp to be wiped.

ah well i'm not bitter honest as i'm past that stage .. now it's fins fins fins fins .. oo look a finliath

m8 i was grouped yesterday in cm.
great xp it was steady and fast and i leveled.
at 1 30 in the morning i was ready for sleep but the xp was good so i thought id stay the group was perfect two wardens two pb nukers and a couple of healers and tanks.
As usual there was the .... lets do harder stuff person ... when what we were doing was perfect. we were spawn camping some baf mobs and group bonueses etc were lovely
there was two lots of mobs when we killed one we do the other etc and the others would respawn now it finally got to a point where both spawns would take a minute to come back and we could start again but mr harder mobs ran off without telling the group and got killed and someone else saving them died as well i think. I said why do that and they said why wait to kill mob when there was god ones round the corner .... well for starters out spost was clear of agro mobs we could pull easily and pbaoe without pulling the whole dungeon.
So they got ressed and i said wel im sorry im gonna leave then i think its silly to "if its not broke dont fix it" tis my motto.

As i made my way out still grouped the /g chat was things like cover the "ducking healer" "ffs help me"

Suffice to say i felt fully justified in my actions.

Especially at your level m8 i would move after teh second wipeout ... first time id put down to bad luck or group jitters second time i put it down to poor leadership third time the groups get wiped i dont wanna be in it !

Well I think you did the right thing.

If a group isn't doing so well I try to give a little direction, if it falls on deaf ears then I start to lose faith in the groups ability to do well, then I mention that we really need to pull it together to make it work or go our seperate ways to xp in a fashion that's best for all of us.

I don't feel bad about leaving groups, although if someone is close to level I will stay to help out. Sometimes I don't mind and it can be a laugh but mostly it's just aggravating to die from silly mistakes or over estimating your abilities in search of a bigger xp number, lots really don't understand that for the most part fast xp is the best xp.


what has aggravated me in the past are those who dump groups to take their fins spot, an example: grp up with some people in innis, tank a few lvls higher than the rest of use says "hey, lets go ez and get a few drops" grp agrees to this, he does mention that he has a fins place but doesn't expect to go anytime soon.

We happily saunter into ez, kill 2 named azures and as we pull a bit for xp he announces he's off to fins, kthnksbye, suicides.

Without him we were unable to make it out alive, he was about lvl 46-47 iirc and to leave us inside sheeroe with almost zero chance of making it out was despicable.

I've leveled 2 chars to 50 at fins, whilst killing time I have turned down my spot and moved down the list so as not to abandon those I happen to be grpd with who needed me.

This sort of attitude helps others, dumping people in ez (even though we knew he might leave but at least expected to be able to get out) is entirely self serving, just glad it's not a common attitude to be a selfish prick in hibernia.

I don't mind people leaving a group for any reason just as long as they are honest about it and do not just press /disband without saying anything.

I have been in groups where somebody left saying something like "i need to log" or "i want to solo" and when i saw them again they were grouped with other people.

That's just lame imho. If u wanna leave a group for whatever reason then do it but don't lie about it or just leave without saying. Oh... and leaving a group after like 10 mins without any valid reason (valid is like IRL emergencies) is always lame i think. Especially in high lvl groups cause they spend a lot of time making a nice group and some people still don't seem to realize that.

In your cause i would have left much earlier. When the group wants to take mobs u think they cannot handle u can leave offcourse. I have left groups because i was fed up with the mobs they wanted to fight against. So why stay then if u have to do things u don't like. I see no point in that.

Well i think its kinda boring now cause everyone knows moblevels and has been anywhere in his own realm and frontier. It has been great in beta walking around innis or siab city with lvl 12. i can even remember my late beta walk with my druid Denebrion to the Cursed forrest where a huge fomorian oneshotted me.

That exploring and testing discovered mobs was geat fun!

Have only ever left one group for another, this was after party death, some of group leaving and got an invite from a gorgous Celtic Bard to go kill things in EZ, (who could resist Cerridwen?)

I would leave again under those circumstances as tanks are a dime a dozen and im replacable very eaisily.

In the case you have described you showed the patience of a saint.

I have only evr left one group for another......this was, in my eyes, for good reason. I won't go into detail but lets just say I wasn't exactly getting along with the group members. Plus the group I went to wasn't guaranteed, I just happened to come accross them as I left.

Too many times now I have been in a group, standing around for hours on end waiting for members etc etc just for someone to leave at the last minute for a "guild group" or other lame excuse....leaving us where we started.

But my real big issue with group hopping is in the simple courtesy of pre warning a group of a fins place..... we've all been in that group that takes a while to form, runs miles through plenty of aggro ready to start on the xp mobs just for one of the main group members to say "My spot in the fins has just come up, bye" This really gets my goat, if you're in the damn que then say so for goodness sake, at least we could try for a backup character ready for a heads up when your spot frees up.

I guess the "I'm joining the harder mob group" syndrome gets more common at higher lvls, I've certainly been witness to it on too many occasions...... you know the ones......you take the time and trouble to form a group, run all the way through to EZ for one twat to say "My friend just asked me to join his knights group, cya" AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!! I HATE THEM!

It is just a game, yes.....but this game takes a damn long time to get anywhere you want to be, be that a level or location, it's all time consuming, and when you have spent perhaps hours trying and trying to gain what little XP you can for one selfish player to make that time a waste...... shame on you I say, shame on you. We're all people behind these avatars, show a little respect for us, I think it's the least we deserve after allowing you into our groups, taking the time to say hello, being friendly. Don't throw it back in our faces by running off for a better offer. If you think you are too good for our group then don't join in the first place. Wait for your damned knights/fins group. Don't put us through the rigmarour (spelling?) of running to our destination....then running you all the damn way back.

I could go on forever.....call me a moany b*****d, see if I care. This is my time! My life damn you! I don't want to waste my time on you! Life is too short for wasters like you! Get out of my sight you filthy time waster! Waster of my days begone! Spoiler and ruiner you are! Upsetter of the peace people, bludgeoner of the patient ones!
