It seems that big companies are pulling out of exciting innovative long-term projects in favour of bullshit yearly sports franchises and car games. FFS.
think what made codemasters flip out were that overhaul.
iirc what netdevil had before were just a few months away from open beta and then they went and rewrote most of the entire game, pushing the release back god knows how long.
part of the cortcase is that certain "milestones" were not met.
Yep the game was only 3 months from completion before Codemasters started asking for more features, the game was delayed and delayed, then Netdevil were bought out.
Fucking annoying, what they had in alpha only needed tweaking, polishing and then launching. Instead we get feature creep, delays and then cancellation. As an orginal Jumpgate beta tester going back to 1998/1999 I am absolutely gutted.
that game has 0 interest to me, mostly because its funcom thats developing it and i'm still having nightmares from AoC launch and the following 8 months of nothingness....
Its a shame what appears to have happened to JGE. From the outside, it looks like it was project managed to death.
There may have been working code, the game may even get ressurected but it looks like it has become vapourware. I feel sorry for the devs and creative people that poured their heart and soul into it.
