joysticks in BF1942

i have 30 quid to spend in GAME so i am thinking of buying a quality joystick to make flying a bit easier. ive seen a saitek cyborg with a throttle bit on it but what i wanna know is how do throttle bits on joysticks work in BF1942? will the speed actually vary or are you either going fast or slow?

Joystick throttles work as analogue in bf1942, ie you can vary the speed, makes dogfightin so much easier
