Here's a quote from Jolt's news :

"As a reminder to those who use our public servers, if you are caught cheating you will be perma. banned from all jolt servers - there is no second chance."

Now, I realise that that may seem a little harsh, maybe a little militant even, but it's a damn good deterrant, and if it stops cheating on the servers, I'm all for it.

I'm tottaly with them.

I even encourage DrSin to program CSHP, so that when it sees the cheat, CHSP will f0ck the UT instalation. :)

Altough, a list of cheaters, with nick, ip and ngstats id will be available on the CSHP site. (http://www.creativecarnage.com/CSHP)

banned for life sounds cool to me.

i wonder if CSHP can be rigged to cause a runny bottom. i know that would deter ppl :D

hehe :)

On the far side, CSHP could detonate the BIOS of the puter, causing a massive fire in the cheater's house. Now that would be a lesson.

I don't think it is a little harsh.

If you cheat you should be shot imo but banned for life will do i suppose.

Heh! I couldn't remember who posted the topic about having "The Squirts" or "The Squits" as it's also known, but we've been reminded. ;)

I think Wij wants to offload his "squits" onto others more deserving?

well how exactly do you detect that someone is cheating ?

personally i get called a cheating &^$&% at least once a day, even tho i never do ....

and what exactly constitutes cheating ? scripts ? bots ? what ?

this life i am mostly playing Quake 3 btw ...

hello? Cheating as in using aimbots and other lame scripts used in Unreal Tournament. CSHP detects a lot of those cheats. Further versions will detect even more.

Not only UT m8, Q3 and CS have a fair amount of cheats too...

Yeah, I know that, too :(

But UT was going steady without those cheats. Only a few months ago, some looser decided to code an aimbot. Since then, all the good players have to deal with the lame accusations like "you're cheating, etc, etc". Glad that someone is trying to flip this to our side.

my original question still remains unanswered ... :)

i can see how you might detect an aim bot (they are very snappy when they lock on a target), but htf, do you spot an auto fire bot ?

like i said i only really play q3, and alot of these bots work directly on the exe, hence he question.

the bot chants oftern suprise me ... i am standing there thinking "wow, that was a ggod game and XXX played really well", then the other guy(s) slag me off......

the other thing it anoys me is when you have a good close match, but (by luck really) you end being way in the leed (hope you no what i mean, some of the closest games i have had, i won by quite a lot of frags .... :)) then the other chap either
1) ust drops and says nothing
2) starts slaging you off with the "that was an impossible shot i tell u" quips ...

sorry m8, i don't play q3, so I can't really say how bots work in it.

As soon as you enter a UT server, CSHP does a check up on your UT files, and checks it for Mismatches (modifications in it, aimbot codes, etc). If it detects it during the game, it will kick you out of the server. For more info, take a look on the CSHP homepage.

errr, nopbot is (was?) the only exe changing thing in Q3 (and I don't know of any updated 1.27 bots tbh) - everything else managed to use paks / qvms.

you really can't detect the auto fire bots easily.

and scripts are scripts - if its do-able via scripting in the engine, its not cheating until the developers say so and code it out.

Its not _my_ fault if they fail to code well enough to stop scripts. Its theirs. In that sense, scripts aren't cheats, but they are exploits (sometimes) that can be looked down on.
