currently crashing in falkirk and I'm desperate for a job :)

"note that the part below is direct copy from my application"

I am a young man at age 23 and am currently looking for new challenges, I have finished my education as an IT-supporter and a long time dream of mine is to work in the northern England or Scotland.

During the education I was working in an internal IT-dept. for the company Ambu A/S as part of an 8 man team, of which I and another did most of the 1st line support, we supported 400 users in denmark and another 50 spread over England, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, U.S.A, Malaysia, China.

Before I started the IT-supporter education I was working on the visualization of Ribe Vikingecenter, this included contact to person from every country around Europe that came to see this rather spectacular tourist attraction.

What I can offer you is a young guy, with lots of spirit, that are accustomed to working in front of a computer, between 2000 and 2003 I was an arranger of LAN’s at the Youth-centre in Ribe and also had a bi-job as system administrator there.

Those of my personal abilities I find most useful are the 5 following.

Humour
Reliable
Flexible
Easy to talk to
Dedicated

I hope this application has aroused your curiosity and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours truly

Jakob Ebsen

I'll attach my CV here just in case :)

-----

I really hope some of you can help, if nothing else, pass on the CV to your HR department if you know the company is looking for IT people.

Thanks in advance

IT support jobs in Scotland are sparse and tend to be badly paid, but all the best in your search.

To help, try looking at jobserve and typing in "support scotland" in the search. It'll search an IT job specific database with support and scotland as your keywords. Try searching with different city names too. For example

All the best.

not a dig at all, as i can see from your name you're not english, but you might want to ask someone to help you rewrite bits of your statement, as the grammar is shocking. :p

anyway good luck!

I'm guessing English isn't your first language (*wild stab in the dark*), which could stand you in good stead - I see jobs quite regularly in IT support in Scotland, but you need French/German/Dutch (whatever's needed)....maybe that's bad though - the fact I always see them?!? High-turnover? Anyway, you need to list your languages if you have any (major skill).

Oh, yeah, and the pay is crud (for what you're doing) £14-£16/£18K (even seen some as low as £10-£12K).

If English is your first language then we've got problems...(no offence intended)...

Oh, and I wouldn't describe your work at a youth-centre as a "bi-job"....call it a "dual-role" or something or other. ;)

Those words should only be spoken by an employment agency (towards a prospective client) or pimps.

Addlcove I've had a quick go at rewriting your letter while keeping it as similar as possible. All I've really done is change the grammar and change some phrases which don't seem quite right in English. No guarantee any of it is better but some of the changes might be worth considering :) Some bits of my phrasing are not the best, in terms of how things should be written on an application form, I admit as I've tried to stick with the original expressions as much as possible.

On second thoughts I think I've probably changed it too much but no matter some parts might be useful. I'm sure others here can do a much better job of advising than me :)

I'm 23 years old and am currently looking for new challenges and opportunities. I have completed my IT support training and a dream I've had for many years is to work in Northern England or Scotland.

During my training I was working in the internal IT-deptartment of the company Ambu A/S, as part of an 8 man team, where I was, with one other person, responsible for most of the 1st line support. We supported 400 users in denmark and another 50 spread over England, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, U.S.A, Malaysia and China.

Before I started the IT-support training I was working on the audio-visual sections of Ribe Vikingecenter in Denmark. This included contact with people from every country around Europe that came to see this rather spectacular tourist attraction.

What I can offer you is a someone who is very enthusiastic and accustomed to working in front of a computer. Between 2000 and 2003 I was an organiser of LAN’s at the Youth-centre in Ribe and was also employed as system administrator.

The personal qualities which I bring to a job are the following.

Humour
Reliable
Flexible
Easy to talk to
Dedicated

I hope this application has aroused your curiosity and look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Yours faithfully (I assume you're starting the application with Dear Sir/Madam)

it's not "training" though

the "IT-supporter" is an actual education. even got a "certification of education" stating that I am indeed an IT-supporter

Ah - I have to admit I wasn't quite sure on that - thought it might have been some difference in meaning due to the translation as IT-Supporter doesn't really make good English. A better translation would be that you are IT-Support personnel or that you work in IT-Support.

Change the first and third mentions of training to qualification in what I wrote and it'll make sense.

It might also be worth noting if you have any specialities within the IT-Support area e.g. Networking.
