I liked them too, the best anecdote I heard was told in Naomi Klein's No Logo, where Run DMC sang My Adidas. Apprently the band's promoters took some executives from Adidas to a concert, when they saw several thousand pairs of Adidas trainers beeing thrown into the air for the song they instantly decided to sponser them. Adidas even did a special version for Run DMC fans with no laces :)

Run DMC were never part of the "Gangsta Rap" era, and this is one of the reasons I always rated them. Most new hip hop is shit, the old stuff, a la Run DMC is all I listen to/play.

RIP Jam Master Jay, may your turn tables in heaven never skip due to fluff on records.
