Total War: Shogun 2 is asking for 51 GIGABYTES of HDD to install on steam.

51 GIG!

I've got 24 Gb left on the SSD that I use as my gaming hard drive and steam, annoyingly, won't let me install it somewhere else. (Which is steam's biggest fucking joke by far).

I got it for free with my graphics card along with Deus Ex: Human Revolution (which I've already got and think is shit - so that's being gifted), Dirt Showdown and something called Nexulz..?

But 51 GIG!!!!!!!

51 sounds like a bit too much for that - I haven't got that one but have all the others and they are all 5gig tops (ish)

...and Deus Ex, shit? wash your mouth out!

Just gave my box a reboot. It's coming in at 24Gb now apparently? :|

Yep. It's shit. It's a step backwards in gameplay and story from the first one IMO.

If it had been released with shitty graphics a long time ago then I'd forgive it - but it screams "console" and it's gameplay is hampered by it.

I got bored quickly, reinstalled Deus Ex 1 and played that instead :)

You got some pretty decent games there for free to be fair! I remember my last graphics card, I got a really shit Tom Clancy game.

Stopped playing Shogun 2, the CTD's kept annoying me, never had a problem with CTD's in previous TW games, but this one. Don't like the whole food mechanic, stops me from continuously warmongering, should be an option to turn it off, rather the game ran on credits only. Though I did like the new political options, using my diplomacy skills to break alliances, cause two enemies to fight each other, whilst I grow stronger and take their lands at the same time.

thats the entire point
in previous games you just used meta mechanics to print money and spam 10210183290128312038 armies and win
L2 strategise and play "properly" :p

you can also mod them off...

I could never get into the Total War games, I love the principle but no matter what I do I end up with a huge mass of screaming men and have to wait half an hour to find out if I won.

I could be simple, but I also got confused by all the different kinds of units, which look identical on the field (from zoomed out) :/

I miss C&C - the good C&C.

Or just trick them into attacking you, it's especially easy in Empire total war. Sacrifice one unit of men and the rest of their army marches towards your cannister shot and line infantry. Once you get the largest artillery it just becomes stupidly easy.

I quite like them though, but they aren't exactly taxing

One of my best gaming moments was in Rome when a Bruti 5* General was destroying force after force of my Juli. In the end, I gathered what forces I had left in the region and spent the battle, drawing away his forces from him, so I could kill him. I lost the battle, but managed to kill the general. After my reinforcements arrived, I quickly moved south through Albania and Greece, finishing off the Bruti.

You should format your PC just for having DA2 installed...
