Quick question, just wondering weather there has been any update anywhere about jedis in the game? do they exist yet? is it even implemented? im just wondering weather theres been an announcement or something that i've missed. or if anyones heard ROUGHLY when they will be implemented. a friend of mine saw a light saber for sale the other day, was 25 mill credits apparently. didnt realise they existed yet, as i thought only jedi would be able to build them.

Anyway, thanks in advance :)

as far as known the only jedi's in game at this time are NPC's.
SOE claims it's implemented, but will take some time still before the first FS slot will be unlocked. the method to how to do this is also unknown at this time.

the Lightsaber you saw was probably of the broken variant, they're floating around as random loot and it seems somebody tried to con the more unsuspecting shoppers (or they just named a normal swörd Lightsaber, since crafters can name their items anything they want)

Or GMs (Sony calls them "digiteers") playing Jedi characters in the game. They did this for the last few days of the beta test as a special event. All the Jedi skills are implemented, but were tested by SOE employees only - no paying customer has even unlocked a Force Sensitive character slot yet, let alone reached Novice Jedi.

Lightsabres drop off Dark Jedi NPCs (as do Jedi Holocrons). They are junk loot and cannot be equipped or used.

I think its a bit silly that if they have implemented jedi, they havnt even given so much as a hint as to how to open a char slot. If they havnt implemented them yet, than thats also silly.. alot of people bought the game to become a jedi, and will be soarly dissapointed.

im not that fussed, im having good fun with my current char, i'd just like to know the option is there to start the trials to open a char slot.

Good, you give one hint out and peolple will expect more, it makes it a much more special thing while no one knows squat about them :)

Want to be a jedi ? go play Kotor or JK2 :p

If in the future i ever unlocked the FSS i would make it a 100% roleplay/fun character, i find it hard to put all my effort into a char that has permadeath.

<thinks back to when i lost my diablo hardcore char due to lag> :p

well.. it doesnt make it that special, i think its more just frustrating that one of the launch promises (jedi) possibly hasnt even been implemented yet. they dont have to give us a huge hint.. could just say.. where to go to start it or something :p

and kotor/JK2 are both games that have 5% lastability. once completed you'll never play them again. whereas a jedi in swg would be great, as its obviously a persistant world and your jedi will be yours forever.

oh, and another thing, about perma death, i know your char is perma deleted before hitting master. but i read a thing saying your char turns into one of the blue hologram type things that Obi Wan, Yoda and Anakin become.. what i wanna know is, is that permenant? or is there a way to revive from it. because if its permenant, then... whats the point, might aswell just delete it lol.

Actaully devs have gave a number of small hints already :p

one that springs to mind was devs saying that 'following lukes footsteps might be a good choice' or something along them lines.

Devs have said jedi are in the game but no one has unlocked them, and i belive that and i also like the fact its not easy to get, i dont want a bunch of spotty faced teenagers running around shouting WTF i p0wned j00 with my L1GHTS4ABER, PHEERRR

i agree, its good they're keeping the jedi population down.. but.. i wannnnnt tips :p follow in lukes footsteps? what? kiss my sister? interesting..

they should basically say, you have to go to THIS person to START the quest, then give no more tips atall. it can be as cryptic as it likes after that, i just want to be able to start the dam thing.

isnt it? i heard it was a trial type thing, that could take a casual player a year or so to complete. thats what the Devs said anyway..

It is a trial in a way, but its differant for each person so there isnt really any certain way to go about it, devs said that if everything was done that needed to be done to unlock it, it would take about a year of casual playing, and thats if the person know what things had to be done, which no one really does.

Dont get your hopes up of playing a jedi, think of it as a very special bonus if it happens, and im sure as the game go's on people will work out some of the things that might have to be done as pre-reqs.

After you reach a certain level in your Jedi skills you will gain the ability to remain as a blue glowy after your permanent death. The only reason to keep one of these is if you want to hang around and chat... it's more of an RP tool than anything.

SOE described them as a badge of honor, that not many people will get. I suppose thats the reason to keep it and not delete it.

think thats a tiny bit lame. but i spose its a good way to keep the jedi population down to a minimum.. and im guessing jedi will be so hard that they wont ever die anyway lol. baah who needs jedi.. teras kasi all the way... i'll just headbutt em.

Last official word i heard was no....but who knows thesedays.

Theres certainly been noone going around showing it off if they have. But then again...theyd be stupid to.

If you want to see complete paranoia and endless amounts of uninformed theorys plus threats of lawsuits, just visit the official forums and under the "professions" section theres a forum for Jedi.

1) Koster said they would announce it when the first force-sensitive slot was opened by a player.

2) There has been no such announcement.

3) Therefore no players have yet opened their force-sensitive character slots.

4) Only characters created in force-sensitive character slots can gain Jedi experience and train in the Jedi skill tree.

By combining these simple facts, it is possible to scientifically calculate the precise number of player Jedi across all SWG servers, accurate to within 100 decimal places. I'll let you work it out for yourselves. Ask your Mum for help if you need it.

Update - posted yesterday to the Developers boards by Raph Koster:
It has not happened yet. Some folks are getting really close though. I'd expect to see it in the next month or so.

Ive been sifting through the offiicial Jedi forum, and it looks like the Jedi code has not even been in the game.

Some guys who play on the test centre say its only just been put onto there, sneakily hidden in some "bug fix" patches. (they are pretty reputable, theyve been right on things like this before).

So dont be surprised if in the next big patch, when test centre code gets pushed to the live servers, we see someone, or more than one person magically unlock their FS slot.

Nope, its in there.
They did hotfix/add some new jedi stuff to the test center, but the Jedi skill tree has been posted somewhere which means its in the game.
Also, if it wasnt in the game how would players in the beta see the jedi?

Maybe thats the key to Jedi - live in Obiwan's house for a week.

Advancement comes from doing chores like the washing up, and mowing the lawn.

:p

On an unrelated note, me and a friend are looking for a nice RP imp PA on eclipse, any ideas?

The jedi holocrons aint junk, the lightsabers are though....

the system has ben implanted, but they dont reveal hints or tips, couse its supose to be "realistic", and ppl has to discover how to become a jedi themself..

there is one person that is close to reaching FS but he/she doesnt even know this.....

My sources is a GM or smt, cant remember what he was... but something like that...

PPL that bys a mmoprg withoute doing some reasearch on what the game is aboute, and what can be done, cant expect anything... just becouse its called Star Wars doesnt mean that u can become a jedi, even though u can in this game.. but its not a "proffesion", its something u reach after some playing, and its kinda casual who becomes a jedi, u proly hafto do loads of stuff, and a person that becomes FS will not remember every single thing hes done during hes playtime ;)

Anyways, some1 will become a jedi, BUT it will most lighty take some time before this happens... dont go cryen aboute it, do some rasearch on what the games u bye is aboute.

well its simple

There is only 1 way to have a working Jedi system, but its very unfair.

The only working way is that only GMs or something could g ive you a force sensitive slot or somekind of lame quest that only a certain number of people can finish etc...

If this wasnt the case almost everyone(or atleast way to many) would have a FS slot withing a month...
