Jailbreaking your iPod lets you use unsigned Apps and code.

Apple for example, don't allow other web browsers on the App Store, so you can install 3rd party apps etc that Apple won't allow.

Also it lets you download apps from other sources and install them via USB etc.

Oh and tethered means that every time you reboot the iPod you had to do so with the iPod plugged in via USB to the PC so you could run commands on it to get it to boot.

Untethered and it's no different from a normal "shop-fresh" iPod, and you can reboot it at will.

It's been working brilliantly so far, and this is my new springboard:

Transparent Dock
Background & Themed icons
Numeric % battery power indicator (far better!)
Cydia

Far far better than a bog-standard iPod Touch. So glad this worked :)

Heh, no that's all stuff I had previously, IE purchased through the app store, including Beatmaker which cost £12!

Colour Expert was £6, but the devs piss me off because the updates they promised, which made me purchase it 4 months ago, still haven't appeared as yet.

Plenty of free/"free" apps out there though!
