I've been thinking...

I seem to have found myself on a spot where I'm not particularly enjoying this game anymore. The past few months I seem to only log in once every 2, 3 or 4 weeks to pay my rent.
I did still have a few personal goals I wanted to achieve, like getting RR5, CL5 and a good template, but I figured, what's the actual use when I don't have too much fun anymore getting those goals, and not playing anymore after achieving these goals.
I therefor think I'll leave this game for what it is. I've got a few plats on my CM's so my houses will last for a bit, and my subscription still lasts till april, so I still can log in if there's a final goodbye dragonraid orso, but for the rest...

A lot of the people I have played with in the past already have left this game but there are still a few out there I'd like to wish the best. I'm terrible with names however, so I'll refrain myself from writing down a list of names in the case I'll forget people, but to those who've had played a significant role... I think you know who you are ;)

A little mention towards the guilds I've been a member of:
Dah Troll Patrol
Jordheim People's Front
Reduco ad Honore
Talon's Reach

Thanks for providing a community feeling ;)

Thinking?

Sorry to see you go m8  but your reasons sound more like the result of feeling rather than thinking - nothing wrong in that ofc.
Unfortunately if you base your playing on 'targets' or 'goals' then you're quite right - once you've achieved them it seems pointless to carry on.

But there's the problem - DAoC is supposed to be a role-playing game and targets are only part of it. Personally I've been playing it since beta, almost all in PvE. There's still loads I haven't done or seen - the boss mob in Iarnvidiur, for example, or killing the Rift. I haven't made any proper toons in Albion. I really must get in to NF more.
I still play because each character I level has a different 'personality' and does things quite differently from the others. The three guilds I'm in also have very different play-styles. In general there's still a challenge (for me anyway) in playing and helping others to play. There's not alot more I want from a game tbh.

Still, if people are bored then there's not alot to be done. I would mention that the huge majority who have left since the cluster have gone to other servers with larger populations. They're not bored with DAoC afaik but generally fed-up with GoA. The alternatives on offer (ones that I've tried anyway) are not up to much, and if I had to leave DAoC I wouldn't be going there.

Finally, I always though there's not alot of point or use in games anyway - except as relaxation and in the enjoyment of playing or watching as ends in themselves. If you're looking for point, I suggest putting your efforts into making lotsa money, finding a cure for the Common Cold or making Nuclear Fusion economically viable. Now those would be useful -as long as you're aware of the Midgely Effect.

Best wishes Ingaf, 'tis a shame to see another old-timer leave the game.

Perhaps we will meet again in some other pixelated landscape, running around like loons.

Until then, have fun without us :)

Saddened to see ya go mate, as you've noticed I haven't much played camelot either, in past months. I've been mostly playing eq2 and vanguard and little wow. But not yet cancelling my camelot subs, atm playing vanguard mostly, but will check camelot in future.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do in future. You can always reach me in msn messanger m8.
