its that time again where i realise my computer sucks and spend stupid amounts of money on upgrading it.

the current set-up i've got my eye on is this..
iwantthis.gif

and i was hoping you kind super technical guys would poke big holes in it, and offer any advice.
basically everything i need is on there and my budget is about 600 quid.

tbh, i dont play any fantastically heavy graphics games, the odd game of nhl 2002 and the like, but its pretty essential for the video card to have some kind of video in (composite or Svid), and i'm sliiightly swaying towards ATI for the gfx.
i'm wanting to stay with AMD too, never had any problems with them, so i dont feel the need to jump ship.

so, get out the poking sticks and poke away, (no, not like that tdc  ) and make all my purchases happy ones!

Yep should last you a good few years that set up.

RAM looks a tad expensive, but I don't really know about the Corsair XMS stuff. Just to confirm that is 2 sticks of 256MB (always better to have 2 sticks than 1) ?

yer, that mobo is dual channel, so i just thought i'd get 2 sticks of th fstest stuff available.

would i notice much diffrerence if i just went for generic pc 3200 stuff? maybe i could get a gig for the price for 512mb of corsair :)

ps. thanks for deleting the flaky posts ;)

It's not so much the performance but when your RAM goes pop and you only have one stick it's a bugger to work it out, at least with 2 sticks you can run on 1/2 RAM for a while.

I was thinking Crucial, which is around £45 for a stick of 256MB PC3200. TBH I'd just go with PC2700 and save even more after what I've read of the miniscule performance difference, maybe even get 768MB instead :)

BTW forgot to add a good choice on the mobo, my next one will certainly include a built-in Sound and LAN, seems to be the best way to go nowdays.

No need for it to get worse, delete function to the rescue ;)

If you want to do some overclocking then the Corsair stuff is the memory to get since it achieves a higher return than most others.
