but........ what's the best brand of modem?

*cry* ......... having not been able to get broadband *sob* and not being willing to pay for the overpriced wank that is ISDN i have to ask......

what's the current l33t modem......... I always used my pace 56k voicei nternal ISA and got pretty good sub 120 pings in QW but err now I've just gone and built a new comp and my new MOBO doesn't have an ISA slot........ basically I want one which will give me the best ping possible..... considering I tryed with this 12 quid "generic" one I bought just to keep me going till i got ADSL gave me ping spikes of like 400 (sodding winmodem! :p) i hear the USB variety are generally best?

thanks for any help

Diamond Supras used to be the dogs danglies, no idea if they still are. However, if you want one, I've still got my old one I can hook you up with if you pay postage.

Anything with US Robotics printed on it would be doing you a favour.

sad to say im a 56ker, I use a Diamond SupraExpress 56e pro. The new ones are v92 capable, and are even better than the old v90 jibby jobbies.

lke this

definatley get external, not internal. Ive tried em both and the Epro was better.

Hayes Accura V.92. internal.

excellent for me.

Went for internal - no additional "box" in the study and no requirement for extra cables everywhere.

Zoom modems are pretty good too.

Avoid USB modems

What's this new v.92.... ne improvement in connection speed ? I've never acheived over 44k with v.90 hmm in the good old days of X2 I'd get 47 consistently!
