Actually its been getting very good reviews. Ocean's Eleven was a remake, and that was top, so why not this?

Because people now think "Oh americans making a movie" must be a crap action flick or a shit remake. I have also seen very good reviews for it so im not sure what you are all basing your thinking on.

I think the reason people are being so hostile to it is that it's a traditional heist/revenge flick, rather than the rather offbeat comedy of the original. As far as I can tell, the only thing it has in common with the original is the main character's name, and the fact that it involves a car chase with Minis in it.

So I guess most people feel it doesn't deserve to cash in on the name of the original.

Jonathon Ross reviewed it last night, and came to the conclusion that it's shit. I trust the man.

From the footage i've seen, it looked really serious... The key to the original was the humour, and i don't think the idea of the minis etc could work in a serious setting. If you're wondering why it's been remade, Ross reckoned that the Americans don't think much of the original, so it was never a huge issue for them.

His brother on the other hand was pretty damn good in band of brothers.

Agreed, Donnie is a damn fine actor.

Yowser I never even realised he was the one out of new kids on the block and here I am having just watched the entire series of Band of Brothers, he's come a long way since his pop days, boom town is a pretty good series to.

Well, I just watched TIJ and I have to say its not too bad. Its not something you'd want to watch twice, but there is enough humour and slickness to impress. Its nice and short too, which is..er...nice.

It's got Charlize Theron in it. Human instinct forces me to want to go see it.

I enjoyed watching it. o_O

At first I thought it was just a rip off of the orignal, somehow stupidly set in L.A. But it had a different story line and worked out nicely imo.

The orignal is far greater, though.

Enjoyed it. Nuf references to the original (cars, some names, traffic lights, alps tunnels etc) but plowed its own furrow. Liked the running napster gag

I can't actually see the *point* in this film at all. Think I'll pretend it never happened (like the APPALLING Get Carter remake) and go watch Spirited Away again.

Doesn't this have Edward Norton in it? If so, I might go and see it.

Yes he is in it.

I heard somewhere that Charlize Theron can speak 29 languages...is this true??

TBH it looks crap.

All the good reviews have come from the US most of the reviews from UK said it was a poor remake.

Also what connection do Americans have with Mini's their British not so much now mind u but the spirt of the Mini is British.

No remake will ever compete to the orginal.

come every body 'whistles self perservation society'

A plebian at my local MULTIPLEXOR overheard me saying to the gf (as we were looking at a poster advertising this film) "wtf is the point of doing a shitty US remake".

Said plebian came up and said "Its an adaptation not a remake!".

I said "Was I talking to you? If I want to know about popcorn I'll ask you, otherwise fuck off".

Met him at a party a few days later, he's my cousin's new boyfriend. I think he expected me to be embarrassed. I wasn't as I don't shovel popcorn for a living and my cousin is a fking minger.

Don't forget that the original was bankrolled by Paramount.

The word that sums this film up for me is 'uninspired'. Very much like charlies angels 2 not bad but you walk out of the film with the impression that you haven't actually watched a film just a long (in ca2's case mtv music video) trailer. Nothing of substance some fairly funny bits in it and stathams grin was starting to get on my nerves.
