ISDN Stuff

I've just got ISDN fitted. Initially, I'm going to be connecting directly via a USB cable (no terminal adapter needed), its a new thing to BT I think only been going a few weeks.

Does anyone know how the performance compares to using a PCI terminal adapter. I've heard for ADSL, its slower using a USB cable but does this also apply to ISDN.

If it is slower, which PCI isdn card should I go for?

hi mr isdn pimp here :)
dont know about the usb thingy although as you say it seems worse for dsl.i have an asus terminal adaptor got from www.solwise.co.uk which i have had for a year or so and has caused no problems.my ping is generally 50-80 in cs depending on the time of day.
hope this helps

I've heard this USB cable modem thing you can do as well, but I used a bt isdn pci card for mine. Worked v.well and got around 80-100 @ 64k on bw servers. Other ppl I know with pci isdn cards got as low as 60-80. But they were living on top of their exchange. If you're intending on a long term future to join the broadband cable world then using a cable modem now on isdn and then having it for future broadband use maybe beneficial.

I miss me isdn, was much better dan cable and dsl coz I had a relationship with mine , you could look at the big grey cable and cuddle it at night. Was the most stable connection I have ever had.

The new Home Highway boxes have a built-in USB ISDN TA, but from what I gather any USB TA is generally worse performance, and any BT TA is even more so.

My own ISDN connection got a massive boost when I chucked out the BT Speedway cr*p and got myself an Eicon Diva Pro PCI ISDN TA.

Ya Ive got one of those new home highway boxes. I was very dissapointed with my ping when I tried it last night so I'll try using a PCI TA and hope that helps.

I have ADSL and my ping is usually 25-40 but sometimes it spikes to 70 and makes it really hard to play games. Is there anyway this can be stopped in games such as Quake 3 or Counterstrike?
