lo,

Just had highway installed and got myself a Asuscom ISDN modem card.
Trouble is that the engineer that fitted highway forgot to tell me my Digital phone number
frown.gif
and bt wont give it to me over the phone as were ex-directory
frown.gif

Is there a way round setting up the terminal adaptor using the ISDN setup wizard in windows when you are unable to fill in your own digital number? :/

Also would be nice if someone could give me some advice on how to go about setting it up for dual channel bonding. URL to a site that tells ya how be nice
smile.gif

I assumed that it had somet to do with the ISDNLink-00-Line02 in configuration off the system tray monitor but how does this relate to your dial up connection u make in windows?

Any other info on how to use this setup would be much, much appreciated

Not sure if u need your digital number to setup your ISDN connection or not. Anyway that number is now your main reference number for BT, so all your bills will be for that number. Phone BT and quote your customer ref # should be enuff for them to give u your number.
Setting for q2, rate 8000
smile.gif
cl_maxfps 90ish.
128k boning? Never tried it, but i reckon if u rite click in dial up network and select connect with, then configure. You should see a speed preference option, select 128k (bonded). I think this will do it, but I've never tried. Let me know if it works!

A) i NEVER tell it what MY phone number is, and it all seams to work .....

B) Dead easy,
1) create a dun shortcut as normal, using
:} ISDNLink-00-Line1
2) click on the "Multilink" tab
3) select "Use additional devices"
4) click "Add"
5) select ISDNLink-00-Line2
:} and add ur isp's tel no

C) Sorted

Did the BT guy forget to write the ISDN number on the box? You should have 3 numbers, two analog ones and a digital one.

if not, ring BT and ask for the number. Quote the number on your BT order form. They have caller ID, so they know that the call is coming from you.

I don't think it's important to put in your own number (in the ISDN setup), just make one up.

The multilink thing is done through your Dial-up properties. Click on the multi-link tab, and select the line 002 (or whatever). You'll know when you have both channels going when all the lights are on in your system tray icon.

The settings that I use for Quake3 are Rate 6000 for single channel, and Rate 7500 for dual channel. One channel is usually enough. I think the com_maxfps is for modems only.

Give that a whirl, and see how you get on

when u use the two lines at once, for multilink, @ 128 kbps, do u need to have 2 wires going into the isdn card ??

and does BT internet do isdn single and multilink ?

thanks again

Frankie,

What Home Highway costs is all over these messageboards, so I won't go into that again
smile.gif

An Asuscom ISDN card is about £30 (from Insight).

Is it worth it? Well, that depends. If you really want to have a decent ping, you're going to have to pay for it. It does, however, make your online gaming more enjoyable (except for people moaning about your ping
smile.gif
). That in itself makes it worthwhile.

BTInternet does support multilink, but not on the weekend 0800 service.

You only have one cable going to your HH box, which is used by both channels.

Lo again,

Had a go with dual bonded connection tonight and dont reckon its worth the bother or cost.
50-100 ping more than enough for me
smile.gif

Maybe dual bond be good for downloading and two players sharing connection but am a bit confused as to why i only get 9.6kb connection with dual and 6.4 with single?
Hmmm?

Looking forward to LPB'ing ya all

hehe

Thanx again,

You usually loose some bandwidth due to the bonding of the two channels together but you should usually get 7.5k for ISDN on a zip and just under 15k a sec for 128k.

*roughly*

9k a sec is very bad though
