To an extent thats true, the only GCSE grades I list on my CV are A* for english language and B for maths... as thats all companies tend to ask you when applying online. However, when you nothing better they generally all count and would be valid on a cv, imo

Firstly 5 C's will get you into college, so your totally fine for that. I have been through the whole UCAS thing twice in the last two years, so i will share a little what i have learnt: First i applied for History, but then i changed my mind and applied for medicine in 2007. Most of what has been said above is true, however in very competitive courses such as medicine and law where everyone has atleast 2A's and B at A2, GCSE's will come into it a little bit more. As Tilda said above when applying to uni what is really, really, really important is that you have some evidence of enthusiasm/commitment to your subject (this is probably more to do with courses like Law and Medicine but helps with all). So for example i am spending my gap year working as a healthcare assistant in a hospital and before that i worked in an old peoples home. I am not even going to disclose what utterly disgusting jobs these are, i get the shit (both these jobs involve a lot of this xD) ripped out of me by all my friends and girls just think i am weird. However it will be totally worth it...

everything from being a 1st line IT technician for the local council to working in a doctors surgery to a factory.it depends entirely on your uni i suppose. maybe im lucky that my uni is only one of 3 to offer the degree but also supplys an extra yr for people without the academic background.
but my point is, its not the same everywhere. just have a look about.

yes its not the best uni in the world, but for forensic science its got some of (if not) the best facilities in the country. and its course has been accredited by the TSI, so cant be all bad
. they are currently building a purpose built metrology lab for us to fuck about with in the next 2 yrs.but the foundation year can take you onto about 15 different BSc courses and engineering courses.
