Is there anyway to report macro'ers (crafting?)

As title really.

Getting a bit peeved off with the amount of /afk crafters in Haggal. You can /send them messages all day long without a single reply, even though they move to and from the merchants like clockwork, and return to the exact same spot they started in.

Is there any way to report the cheating bastards? I heard that Zargar occassionaly goes and tries to "talk" to crafters in the prime locations to catch them out (on Pwyrd). Couldn't this be a more frequent feature on excal too?

Before the I get flamed by the pro- macro'ers: Yes I am pissed off off, yes I am jaded. I've had to craft the honest way on my tailor and ACer, so why the hell shouldn't someone else? At the end of the day, you stupid macro'ers ruin the crafting market for honest crafters by flooding the market with LGM's who never should have been crafters in the first place.

If you think that crafting is so boring, then simply DON'T DO IT. Leave it to those of us with the patience to do it.

And for those of us non-crafters who don't know what you're on about, what is macroing as it applies to crafting...some sort of auto-craft thing?

Well, there are different forms of it, some worse than others.

Some people have been known to set up a macro to: Buy goods from the merchant to make 10 items. Run to the forge. Craft the ten items. Run back to the merchant. Sell the 10 items. Rinse and repeat.

This way, they can craft while being completely afk, at work or school or whatever. These are the people that should burn in porridge!!!11

Other macroing, which is perhaps not quite so bad, is where the person has to go buy and selll the stuff himself, but once at the forge can just press 1 button and he will craft until all the material is used. You can also afk by doing this, but for lesser periods of time than the above. It means you don't have to press the button for every item you want.

As much as I'd love to name and shame (and it is tempting), I'd rather not start a flame war.

I guess I'll just start /rightnowing every dodgy crafter. It'll take all day long and it's highly likely GOA will do absolutely nothing to check up on those folk (in the absence of 100% evidence).

What I really want to know is how these people get away with it at the moment? 90% of the crafters these days appear to be macro'ers. Where are GOA to investigate when it's obviously running rampent. People on these boards have even admitted and defended their use of macros. Why do they still have accounts?

:(

I am one of the semi-afk crafters in Hagall, in the defence of myself and many others, I dont watch my PC the whole time, in fact im often watching TV or a DVD while crafting. We have to wait around 1 mintue for each make, therefore it gets rather boring, and having only to push 1 button every minute, you dont tend to keep an eye on your chat window.

While atching tv i just hit my "1" button to make the next item, and hardly look at the screen itself. If there is also a lot of /as and /gu chatter, having only 4 lines of chat exposed, i often miss and /send's that come my way.

This does not mean I am not at my keyboard, im merely not paying 100% attention to the screen, and what else is /afk for?

AFAIK the only way to log a cheat of this nature is to check the timing of their makes, and not really by trying to talk to them.

I’m not watching my screen either when I’m crafting. I watch TV play on my other PC and hit 1 once in a while. With SIs <alt><tab> and getting my new PC it has been np crafting. Afaik we get a "ding" of some kind when the item is made witch will make it even easier to craft while doing other things.

/AFK

v1.61 notes
- We now have new crafting sounds. You'll now hear a distinct sound for crafting failure, lose-item failure, success, and masterpiece.

And really, really really really irritating for LGM armourcrafters like myself when I ask in /b if there's a tailor can make me some raw leathers and I get a resounding silence despite the fact there are at least 5 or 6 people 'sat' at the grandmaster merchant.

That and the damn fact that I pressed the key for every single one of those 1100+ armour crafting points also pisses me off that other people do it the lazy and cheating way to get to LGM.

Like Hell said, if you want to craft, craft properly, if you don't leave it to those who have the patience to actually hit the keys and pay attention to our screens while we're doing it.

I have no objection to people who are sitting at their computer crafting but doing something else at the same time. Personallt I like to read while crafting. However, I still keep my eye on my chat window (and actually expand it while crafting so it takes up my whole screen) to make sure I don't miss anything.

What I do have objection to is the people who aren't there at all. Gone to work or whatever. Because that's just plain wrong imo.

It's lamer than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.
With a buffbot.

Hehe, urm dunno cos I don't usually make stuff outside my guild but let me have a thrash round and see what I've got and we can come to some arrangement (she says in one of those gangster type voices).

Aye this is what I was meaning too Vell, being at the PC and able to respond if someone says something is a different kettle of fish to being out of the room/building/country (okay maybe they aren't that far away but you know what I mean ;) ).

I'm also usually reading and I'm sat at the PC, keeping an eye on the screen while pressing button (whatever I'm making at the time) every minute or so.

Something should be done I must agree.

There is so many times I see crafters use macro's, regardless if they are skillcrafting, crafting for MPs or hinging.

Hope GOA will try atleast check the crafters more often than now.

It's totaly wrong for people who have been there 'semiafk' (cause no way u look at the screen 100% of the time (personaly like to watch movies while crafting :))) that so many have reached what you so long have been prowd of in a so easy way. Why not just set a price on every craftskill so you can pay lets say 30p per craft and get it capped? (if that was posible I'd done it instead of spending so many hours hitting one button at the forge/alch table/lathe).

Aye Sub I think you're right there too. If people don't see that macroing crafting is cheating then they're not gonna be bothered by using anything else that makes the game 'easier' for them.

Sad innit :(

I don't want to know how many times I pressed those crafting symbols on the QB.

And I don't support macroing.. it wasn't implemented in the game, so it shouldn't be used!

And if I know I will be afk 5-10min when I'm crafting.. I usually move away from the forge so people don't get upset when they pm's me :p

Craft the normal way and delete the macros!
