Hi,

Is there any benefit in having shield over 50 ?

For example it is worth stopping at 42 and getting + 11 with items to give a total of 53, or is there some benefit in training to 50 then a further +11 to get a total of 63.

If it does increase the change of blocking above lvl 50, what about parry, would it be better to leave shield at 42 and spend in parry as parry would increase more lvls due to the low parry lvl you have.

Thanks
Diddy

every point of shield gives you an extra 0.5% of blocking

this continues after 50 shield.
Asuming that you are RR3 (esy enough to get to)
With the RA Mastery of Blocking 2 (relatively easy to get), you can ahve 50 spec shield, +11 from items, +2 from RR, +12 from MoB2
thats like 75 in shield, and more as you get a higher realm rank.

If you are a pure tank, then deffo go 50 shield ;)

it`s a better option to go for 42 shield and high parry than 50 shield lower parry tbh

you get diminishing returns above 50

my spec is 42 shield +11 + MOB2

well imo, getting parry up high isn't that good if ur also looking for damage, since from my experience ripose is very useful(low fatigue and a high damage output, use after blocking slash style)
always good to have it as a backup to amethyst, since we (slash users) dont have a "use after successful parry" style.

Well I love the combination 'block->riposte->befuddler' , but I dont have enough slots to put everything on a 'easy to get' quickslot..I can only use riposte->befuddler when soloing, in group no way I can use it cause I need to use enrage, reflect, amethyst slash, bash, back slash (dont use it that often, but it does the most damage of all styles :)) and sprint on 1 sword/xbow on 9 and 0 it gets really confusing to use all of these styles :)

You can clear up two slots there:

1 take sprint off and bind it to something like F4 :)

2 take off detuant and put it somewhere out of the way you need aggro most and if you do need detuant, forget it and die like a man :D

1 cool didnt know that was possible :)

2. well actually I cant remember 1 day I used that style, I do die like a man and I'm supposed to since I'm a meat shield ;) (ps it isn't meant to be used in fg's at all, it is handy tho if u're doing double and the other one doesnt know what 'take aggro' is ;))

what i do is having a different tool bar for different situations, like one for 1v1 battles, one for zerg battles in rvr, and one for meat shielding grps

I have this on Gimly and find it works great.
Shield 50 + 13 + MoB 1
Parry 37 + 13 + MoP 1
Slash 44 + 13

well

50 + 14 slash = 64 : unbuffed weaponskill 1279, buffed: 1712
42 + 14 + MoB1 = 62 shield : enough for riposte :D
39 + 14 + MoP1 = 58 parry: for those nasty dual wielders

imho 42s39p > 50s28p

diamond slash is kinda cool 200+ on tanks (bring a paladin)
