Is NERF a bad word here as well?

Ive just came from lineage where the game was totally destroyed by nerfs and bad support

is this the way of DAOC

do they make changes on characters frequently which the moajority of players are against?

I can speculate that whining on VN boards gets new nerfs brought to every server. but thats just my biased opinion. Check the VN IGN boards and decide for yourself But i dont know a single MMORPG that didnt have nerfs coming.

Its just the way of mmorpgs.

Its just the way it is - after 3 years on EQ I'd seen every class get nerfed at least once.

Players, especially those who only play one class, want to be strong vs everyone. But in DAoC RvR the bad guys are players too, so you have to nerf the strong (like mezzers who can stop a whole group/army) to make it fair for the weak (everyone else standing round mezzed for 1+ minutes /yawn).

Every class change is a nerf to somebody.

Perfect balance is unattainable in a class-based mmorpg. Skill-based is the answer - even if one skill is overpowered, everyone has access to it, so players balance themselves.

Most of the changes that are made are justified in terms of overall balance.

Mythic have been very slow to realise that some classes are "overpowered" and do something about it - given the investment (in time) people had made in their characters by that stage the complaints are understandable.

The VN boards also suffer badly from the "uber class of the week" disease - do not pick the most overpowered class currently and expect that this will never be balanced out.

If your looking for a soloable RvR char expect to be nerfed, otherwise pick your class(es) and have fun

Nerf avoidance 101

There's only one way to avoid nerfs for the longest time possible, and that's to play a class now that's considered "weak" and isn't played much - or a class that was massively nerfed before you started playing Of course you run the risk of never being "enhanced" or "fixed" but you shouldn't get nerfed either. There's added satisfaction from being a "rare" class, but only if you enjoy playing it.

Based on past experience, another way to avoid future nerfs is to avoid the classes I play

Rare classes

While doing "/who class" during tradeskilling or downtime I've noticed the rarest classes (ie >20 online 7-11pm) seem to be:

Mid(Pryd) - spiritmaster (always tons of every other class)
Alb(Excal) - cabalist, sorcerer, friar, sometimes mercenary

At a glance they don't seem like weak classes to me, but I guess numbers are more reliable than message board whining - or nobody would be playing assassins, archers, minstrels, pallies . . . right?

Every player says his type of character is nerfed and the other chars arent that much, so actually every character is just still equal in value...

Like sorcerers wich now have a erry bar nerf but with their new DoT BOMB ! as RA thay can do major damage and kill at least 3 ppl with this new DD, this is just an example, you just have to take your chars as they are balanced out, else , don't play this game
