Pioneer DVD-106 - Slot.

Erm, of late I've had issues when WinAmp has been unable to play Audio CDs from it - It plays about the first second of the track, then the sound cuts out. The clock keeps ticking though.
If I put the CD in the CD-RW drive instead though it plays fine.
A reboot means I can play the CD in the DVD drive again.

There have also been occasions when it has made "clicking" noises when reading disks. Normally a little pat on the tower reduces it. It's a little scarey though.

Running:
Windows XP-Home (Legit),
256 MB RAM,
AMD Duron 800,
CL Soundblaster Live Value.

sounds like the Head has dust inside it, or the needle is damaged reading the disc

I have EXACTLY the same unit!!!

I have probs with some discs..... just dont read very well! Its probably dust tbh as the slot even with its felt protection lets in a lot of air flow!

Try a cd cleaner :)
