42-46 = 3 days at CF fins.
46-50 = A week or two at CF / Crim fins.

That tells it all, I guess.

yes knights are well better than fins. the lists piss me off because some ppl tell me that im too low to tank fins but i let them know i have tanked them before and they then just shut up.

Fins vs Knights

Fins
--------

Good:

1. Fins at Cursed Forest, easy route to spot from Caille, even if solo.

2. Only needs one group to kill those baf'ing things.

3. Safe to log off & on from time to time, and get yourself back into so called list.

Bad:

1. List is usually long and you have to prepare yourself for a long waiting sometimes. Logging in early hours is suggested to get your name on top of the list.

2. Drops (do i actually have to mention those famous Firebrands)

Knights
----------

Good:

1. Better xp if group is co-operating well

2. Better Drops

Bad:

1. Impossible got o spot alone. Takes also a lot of time to get there from Innis, even with a group.

2. Two groups suggested allways. (Why? -> Pop, Scoutted, etc.)

3. Can't leave group and get replacement to group at the spot. So logging on / off don't work at all.

Lots of other things also affects how good is one place compared to another, but these were the main points imo.

10 days? Was less than a week. Was just you farting around from 44-45 that took a while :)

If we'd done it at Knights/Ardents/Watchers it would have been even faster.

I suppose it depends what your proirities are :

If you want to get to 50 as fast as possible therefore want stable XP with little risk of a wipeout then Fin's in CF is the place to xp.

If you want great fun, Uber XP with a greater risk of wipeout associated with this then Knights/Deathwatchers is the place.

Fins are easy, good XP but quite frankly boring as hell

Knights are simple the most fun I've had xp'in in the game (with the possible exeption of the Sprag Den), I have spent lvl's48 and 49 in EZ and recomend it above fins everytime. Yes, OK I've died alot more than I would have done at fins but at least I haven't been tempted to stab my eyeballs out just to alleviate the bordom, cause bordom is certainly not somthing you have to cope with at Knights.

I got in my first fins group yesterday, one of the first times I have been properly grouped for exp since I started playing at commercial release, and went from 47.5 to 48.5 in that one session - and I only left it reluctantly because our warden bailed out on us and we couldn't get another. Fins may be boring to most players, but I soloed a ranger from 1 to 47.5 while taking weaponcrafting from 1-840 including 650 levels of consignment tasks, and I know what real in-game boredom is.

Hurrah for fins! Get me one more fins group and I'll ding 50.

Hehe, it's true. Tried to go elsewhere at 48 (knights/sc) but after waiting in innis for a while and finally gettin knights grp which wiped after less than a bub (lot of pointless arguing goin on at the time bout the other grps there, wont go into it here) i found myself sticking my name back on fins list as a "backup". ;)
Dinged 50 a couple of days later and now i'm cured. Never goin back to them fins again....ever......well....maybe with an alt. ;)

Yes it is possible but the xp after a while at fins isn't near your cap but it is a balance of risks. Lisco sums it up quite well about the pros and cons.

Apart from the finlath firebrand (which can be salvaged for a lot of bars (86 diamond?)) other drops include the stout leather belt and medal of Valor drop which, for a champ, are useful (and these drop from fins) plus the pearlescent necklace (+9 to charisma? good for bards). And noone has mentioned the cash you get as well (probably made well over a plat from fins).

However, one con is that if anyone is aggro to epic mobs you can often get aggroed by them (solution though is to pull from up the hill).

I was on level 44.8 the start of August (and bearing in mind I work so cannot play 24/7 and have a social life etc.).

One big session on fins (and thanks to Cia for her faith in inviting a level 44.8 tank when some in the group said I was a bit low) got me just over 16.5 bubbles and took me to level 46.5.

I got in the group right at the start and it was only then I heard of the fins lists.

DF then came in so I went in there and made a bubble or two a night.

After that getting from being in a list to actually ganking them was hit and miss. One weekend, even logging in at 9am the list was so long that I had no chance. However, another session on them got me another 10 bubs (i logged out at the fins and logged in straight away with a 10 minute wait to get into the group).

Then at level 49.3 one shot 3 hour session to get to level 49.5 then a lucky login at the fins the next night with only a ten minute waitgot me those last 5 bubbles.

So to do it in 4 weeks is possible as I did it (in total i reckon I got 35-40 bubbles of the 50 bubbles I needed from level 44.8 to 50 on fins). You can do it a lot sooner but it requires luck on logging in and getting an early spot on the list, luck in that the group stays together and patience. The xp isnt as good as the EZ after your cap rises to more than you get from the fins (and camp bonus on fins is rare as they are so well hunted) but in my view the pros on safety and predictability of pulls and getting replacements outweighs the EZ.

However, I do not want to see a fin for a long time!

I want bloody lvl at fins, but when u get up at 12AM (11 GMT) and u r the 6th tank on queue on fin´s group, and u get FEW time to xp, u = domned. (that group started at 6AM)

Knights r always great xp, but some hibs fear about getting wiped out there so they don´t wanna duo group (u know who r u) and want single group (which makes not much sense but those ppl do exist).

The problem I´ve got now is that my RL stuffs r more and more lately (tomorrow uni starts), so that means I´ll have less and less time to play, with a 46 NS it´s freaking damn hard to lvl him till 50 :(

Let´s c if I¨m lucky and when I log on with few h to xp I can have a call from fins group... but camping ur active player at fins and play ANOTHER alt´s not wot I fancy... anyway I´d better do it now :(

Its not that hard to do knights with 1 grp.. getting there is easy and as long as you dont get double scouted you should do fine. Altho its possible to live through a double pull also.. just need some leet mezzin skillz around :D
Also as most mana users have (or should have) MCL running out of mana shouldnt be as critical as be4.

Sad to say tho is i dinged on crim fins even tho I said I wouldnt. :(
(1 long 14 hr fin ganking session from 49-50 geez)
Knights is pure action and you need to stay alert to survive but thats the good stuff I want. Never felt the joy of exping like in the epic zone (Azures excluded).

HATE FINS

LOVE KNIGHTS!!

44-50 in 4 weeks is very easy for a shield hero

like most people said, after a while fis r boring and by lvl48 the exp starts getting crap unless u got an uber group pulling very fast. Siabres, Knights and DF are great exp places for either time when u r bored of fins or when u want better exp exp than fins provide

Heh, fins aint too tough for a void eld to handle. Can train yourself to play whilst half asleep, press f8 after pull, wait a sec for taunting, then 5 5 5 5 5 5 (void aoe). Easy. Then wake up every now and then if u get aggro to do qc stun and back off to reduce aggro (range decreases aggro, i've had many people tell me i'm wrong but i am 95% sure i'm right. Dd from max range hardly ever get agg, dd from right beside i get it. Also if i dd a bit then run past the mob it will often come off tank to chase me once i get close) so it gets taunted easier or finish it off with a few quick dd's if it's almost dead. Bout the only bit of excitement i get, then it's back to sleep for another 20 pulls b4 it happens again. ;)
