Is it me or is being a shamen/healer terrible after lvl 40 +

Well, I love my healer.

Trying to get him to lvl 46 at the mo at Lair. Then I will be more use in the primary group as my mezzes will be effective.

Not done much RvR, cos of the reasons already documented in this thread. I would love to join a smallish group for some quality mezzing/stunning. All I have experienced so far is being used as an unprotected rez/buff bot.

Perhaps Killgorde, you could organise some training sessions. I'm very inexperienced in RvR cos I've not been there much. But would love to try to get some enjoyment out of it.

I have only tried RvR once or twice, mainly due to a below spec PC causing 1-3 frames per sec.

While I havent contributed much damage wise, and havent got many RPs, no one ever complains that I shouldn't be there.

Without healers and shamans people would be complaining that RvR is crap, because if they died early in the fight they would miss the rest of the battle.

It is fustrating though that we have to rely on groups, because we have virtually no offensive capability on our own..

I realise that we are a support class, but I do feel that Shamans should be able to spec more like Friars, and that healers should get an ability that makes them impossible to target for a few seconds.

For example, once every 5 minutes, if a tank is bearing down on them they could insta cast and make it impossible to be hit, for say 15 seconds, while help arrives.

Dont know about healer types in the other realms, but there is really no incentive to play a healer or a shaman.

I have a level 38 shaman and I loooove RvR.

I've managed to kill quite a few blue con enemys 1on1 in RvR,
mostly because they think I am a tank and run off :D

I think that the shaman is most effective when working with a runie or skald because they can stun and also have nice speeeeeeed.

I have to say a big thanks to the middies that appreciate us
healers in RvR. Its that great attitude that will keep me
playing my shaman char.

I have found that healers and shammies are in such short supply that it doesnt matter how good or bad you are, you are still guarenteed a group.

I have been in groups with other healer/shamans and wondered whether they have even bothered to put heal spells on their quickbars.

I think that says a lot about the number of heal capable characters out there.

I gotta laff at my shammys way of kiling peeps in rvr, chain casting my ae dot to be like a DD (a very weak dd, granted), but hey , bolt is bugged, a lvl 10 zerker does more melee dmg, and the only time your likely to get any help from someone is locating their carcass for a rez.... oh well

(although i must admit that blue sorcerer must have been pissed when i fungal delapidated him from 100% to 0% hp :D )

Heeheeheeeheeehee.

Ok, I firstly want to clear up a few misconceptions with the healing classes. I have always said, when people complain about playing their healer/shaman, that if they don't like it, it is not the class for them.

I LOVE playing my healer. There's nothing I like more than being a psycho pulling/mezzing/healing stumpy thing :p (The Ghosts of Valhalla will know exactly what i mean).

Secondly, clerics are NOT the uber characters you think they are. Yes, one on one they will own a healer. No doubt about it. However, the healer mezz has a longer range, so just mezz the cleric and RUN AWAY! Don't even bother trying.

The healers are a zillion times more useful in a large scale battle. AE mezz, AE stun, and instant versions of both of these (if you've specced right) completely outclass the (short range) damage and stun/mez a cleric can perform.

I don't want any offensive power. I don't need it. I have my groupmates to do that. It's my job to keep them alive, and with mez/stun/heal, i can do that pretty well. It's all about identifying your role, and performing it.

There is basically 2 types of RvR for Healer.

1/ Small, organised group RvR. Ambushing and harassing enemies in the frontier. Well balanced group, communicating and all performing there tasks really well. In this kind of the group the Healer will really do well, and will be feared by the enemy. The group will do eveything to keep the Healer alive. (S)he will in turn mezz and stun the enemys to buggery, heal and res the fallen. Healers generally fight from the front here, swooping on enemys with AE mezz at the ready. Here your power is almost exclusively for the use of your group only. Healers stay alive a long time when playing like this. This kind of play is fun and get loads of RP.

2/ The daft skirmishes you get in Emain 90% of the time. People running around with no aim, and no clear objective. Here Healers are rez/buffbots and generally fight from the back, ressing the dead and getting mezz out whenever they can. the amount of power you spend here is obscene as you will generally be ressing MANY dead. Healer die lots playing like this. Healers are generally sat down regening power and get very low RP when you play like this.

1/ is cool. 2/ sucks ass. I quit playing my Healer because RvR was mostly like 2/.

Footy starting. COME ON ENGLAND. Oh yes....

Yup, chesnor. I agree.

Hate no2. Would love to do more no1.

Tried no2 last night after not bothering for 10 levels. It was just the same.:puke:

Got flamed by 2 people for not healing quick enough. :twak:

First one. I had used all mana and 2 instas! One on him!
Second one. Was running all over the place. In and out of LOS!

They both said sorry afterwards to be fair. But it was not a fun time for me.:m00:
