is having the patches at the same time as US a good idea ?

i don`t think it is.

if something goes wrong then you can be sure that mythic will first try to get it sorted for US and only after that will look at the EU.

also, if mythic patches in the morning (when noone is online), that means that the euro patch will take place in the afternoon and a bigger % of the players in the EU will be affected by the downtime than in the US.

i would like GOA to do the patches the day after mythic, so they can do them in the morning and all problems with the patch will be sorted out by then.

I always disliked getting patched months later on daoc. But..lets say with WAR - a few weeks would suffice. Let them iron out any problems first :)

Damed if you do damned if you don't. People will QQ and whine either way:

no patch = were missing out on new content
untested patch problems = were missing out on gametime

either way people will complain.

i think having the patch 1 or 2 days later would be a good idea.

the difference in hours between EU and US works in our disadvantage when it comes to applying patches and the time of day it is done when done simultaniously.

by the sound if it they are going to keep them at roughly the same time. but they will probly be at differant times so they will probly do say the american one on a the thursday early on then the euro on say the friday early. if they dont do it like that they are segregating the US and Euro servers for no reason.

i must say that GOA is the biggest time optimists i've ever seen, a short delay for them is about 4-5 hours

I dont mind waiting a coupla weeks for a patch if it means it gets applied smoothly. 2 weeks is enough in my opinion. I dont think a reason was ever given in DAOC for the delays between EU and US server?

Anyway Id sooner be playing slightly out of date content that sat looking at a log in screen wondering how long its going to take to fix.

Probably not - a few days of difference would in my opinion be the best.

that was because of the amount of time it took goa to translate the game to french and german, and later to spanish and italian on top. technically, GOA could patch the english version roughly at the same time as the US and could make the rest of europe wait longer while they translated with daoc, but that would have made a lot of german, french, italian and spanish customers rather unhappy i think.

Anyway Id sooner be playing slightly out of date content that sat looking at a log in screen wondering how long its going to take to fix.

i`m not talking about patching WAR a few weeks later, just 1 or 2 days would do the job imho.

learnt some thing new there, but if thats the case I dont imagine two days will be enough for them to apply a similar process to war content.

war is ment to support multi languages from start, unlike daoc. i think translations are done way earlier in the process than was the case with daoc. in case of daoc, goa was given the patch and THEN could start the translation.

bolded text seems to be the answer to both judging from todays GOA performance ;)

Coupla days should be fine then, let our american cousins beta test it for us:)

Patching at the same time seems to work for Blizzard and i see no reason why Mythic/GOA can't do the same.

Today was obviously some sort of mess, but that should be an exception and not the normal way.

In a perfect world all patches would be applied without any issues, for me im happy to wait a day or two and get a patch that has been stress tested on live servers.
