ok iv'e not played DAOC but is it like WAR? The reason i'm asking is that i'm loving WAR at the moment and if DAOC is like it, I might try it in the future.

Are they still making expansions for DAOC and how many servers and players does it have? Sorry if this is off topuc a bit.

made a post about this many moons ago.

lets say in a years time, 2,000,000 are playing WAR.

1% go play daoc = result !

to answer -

it certainly has aspects that are the same - Keeps and keep lord being a major daoc feature.

also I got a email that in october they are doing a joint sub for the 2 games. the joint sub prices in the mail are
1 month: €19.95 (€5/£3.50 off on DAoC)
3 months: €53.95 (€14/£9.50 off on DAoC)
6 months: €99.95 (€26/£18 off on DAoC

but the mail says that the offer is for continued loyalty but I cant rember actualy playing DAoC so does any1 know where I can get my login and pass word since it was obviously a long time ago I tried it like I have tried just about every mmo.

Daoc used to be the most amazing game ever.
But expansions came along and killed it :(
Nowdays it's pretty dead i'm afraid..

DAOC is still busy in the US servers but about dead in Europe. WAR may also kill off the US ones as people move to it.

DAOC was great, far and away the best MMO for me. RvR with the large battles was the best part of the game, reaching level 50 was the start of the game not the end. I hope that WAR is the same once at 40, only even better.

WAR has many aspects of DAoC, but I find it difficult to compare them... DAoC will still be the best MMO there ever was so far (I'm waiting for WAR endgame content to change that prehaps ;))

I wouldnt bother with DAOC nowdays tbh, its dead and all the expansions have made it crap. The thought of starting a new char from lvl1 and then trying to get the artifacts etc and lvl those up fills me dread! There's not enough players to do the MLs either I guess if you play on the EU servers.

DAOC used to be fantastic, then an expansion came out called Shrouded Isles which was pretty good and added a bit more to the game. RvR was great fun and available to all players no matter their skill or equipment level. Then they added more expansions and changed all the RvR stuff and personally I hated it then and quit playing.

Once it was a great game.. now its rubbish, dont bother paying the extra money I think ;)

as some others say, DAoC was the best MMO ever...for me maybe the best game ever, nothing kept me entertained for as long as it did. It got rediculously bad in the end but the first few years were awesome.

I am hoping WaR will match it, but, as good a game as it is - i dont think it will.

Agree with the above poster

DAOC was my first mmo and i played it for 6+ years with pleassure. War is much different then DAOC in many options. DAOC is more complex and harder to master, it has more freedom to explore, more indept gameplay. DAOC is for me still the best game ever.

Mythic took the best bits from DAoC and kept them for WAR, dumping the bits that didn't work or were clunky (well, except some silly technical things client-side which I recognise as being a problem back in DAoC in exactly the same way). There's a few nods to DAoC with certain mobs in WAR I notice too.

DAoC will always retain for me a special warm 'n' fuzzy place in my memory. Prydwen had a great community and Mythic got so many things right with DAoC. I reactivated a year or so ago for a time and had good fun with it but there weren't enough players on the English-speaking server cluster to make it worthwhile continuing, though exploring the content updates had been fun.

As all above post say DAoC was the best mmo or game for that matter that i played and it was nice for the years that it lasted. Nowdays is total rubbish..To compare the 2 games..

So far from what ive seen, WAR isnt as complex as DAoC and dossent have many of its features, somehow seems to be not so complicated and my guessing is that Mythic made this because they see how many players WoW had with this strategy and they want those numbers too

Aye, that's something I've noticed too. They kept the game alot more accessible for "casual gamers", also making sure they won't have a hard time for endgame RvR. I can remember how different it was in DAoC, where opted guild groups basicaly overran several non-opted groups at some point.
The leveling and gearing up also seems to be alot more chill

It does certainly seem that WAR has been simplified. But is still reminds me a hell of a lot of DaoC pre SI. Have to say that I still miss DaoC though.
Nothing will ever replace it, just a shame they screwed it up with everything after SI.
