Is BW ftp working ok?

I can't seem to stay connected to the ftp on Get Right for more than 10 minutes. I'm trying to download The Opera but it keeps disconnecting me from the server.

Is it BW ftp in general or just this file or me?

Everywhere else seems to connect fine so I doubt its me.

Any ideas?

BW ftp is shit.

No-one's bothered (in the last month) to fix the error of timing out (that alot of people are getting) while downloading.

(error goes as follows, vaguely)

>File download name is downloading
>Continues downloading for a substansial time
>FTP echoes "ftp time expiered" (sic)
>You disconnect, being told you were idling, when infact you're downloading.

stupid fucking thing :/

(Never try and get a huge cunt HL patch from it, it'd take days)

Does it in either mode for me, hadn't questioned the other people in IRC who'd experienced it.

i just visit ftp.barrysworld.com in Internet Explorer and use Reget to download stuff.

And I used it to get the HL patch yesterday and the few problems that their were reget fixed automatically.

UPDATE


I have just finished downloading the HL update from the BW ftp and it had to be resumed 24 times due to disconnections from server.

Sort it out BW.

The only probs i had was a couple of "File size has changed" errors in reget, which it fixed on its own without my intervention.

I think I've figured it out:

If I ignore any and all links that Barrysworld provides and go to the ftp site proper with my browser it appears to work.

I think DAN200 made this point earlier.

What about if I run windows, and flashFXP (which displays all of what you pasted, in a slight different format)

BW ftp is shit.

But it depends..

On my ISDN lines BW FTP is a joke. Even just trying to browse the directory structures ends up with "transfer aborted" because of some malformed request or some such nonsense.

However I got cable installed last week and the BW FTP site behaves itself impeccably. Fast downloads and not a care in the world.

Something definitely needs looked at..
