Internet Explorer and gooveh ickle icons...

Here's a poser... I've looked all over the Internet and can't seem to find a solution. I've also had the same problem (more of a 'problemette' I supose) with Win2K, XP and IE 5.5 and 6.0.

I add a webbeh to my Favorites (sp) folder and sometimes, if the site is speshul, it lists it with its own ickle custom icon. BarrysWorld site for example has the evil smiley.

Later on (seems to be regardless of time elapsed or reboots) the ickle grooveh icon has been replaced by the standard HTML/IE icon (white page with blue 'e' on it). If I manually specify an icon it remains there for all time.

Does anybody know why this happens and how I can keep the custom icons on there?

I guess it stores the icon in the cache... You could try a simple page refresh, but i have a feeling it wouldn't work. Alternatively, download the ico file from BW(look in source for it's loc), and specify it manually...

Actually, now I know they're called Favicons (thanks Jas) I've found out that they are very tempramental and disappear when you clear your IE cache. Hmm..

Like i said, download the icon from the webserver, put it somewhere safe, then add it manually...

Aha! I've found a little utility called FavOrg which checks all your favourites, vailidates the link and makes the favicon permanent.

Little thing, but I feel better now.

Thanks, all. :)
