It'll still be a flop, they've lost the magic of DAOC and UO it simply cannot be recreated I guarantee it. The main reason is because they try to copy games like WoW etc and forget about everything that made UO and DAOC amazing games.

In alot of areas copying games like wow in certain aspects would be very welcome as in itself wow is a great game just not for pvp, if it had wow pve and tri-realm pvp with a decent storyline i would play it :D

As lets be realistic here daoc pve was just 1 big long grind

Wow doesn't suit PvP, the entire mechanics of the combat make it shit. As a PvE game nothing comes close. A game with WoW's pve and DAOCs pvp is an MMO wet dream. Can't see it happening though.

Even warhammers pve was ok tho tbh, it's always the pvp thats lacking tho and it has to be open world as well as battleground/frontier pvp for me

Edit: EvE is getting abit much for me atm and daoc live is pointless uthgard is a mad grind that actually reminds me of so many flaws daoc had/has (like the quest system is so vague it makes me want to cry), there is Rift maybe but i dunno all my friends are playing wow atm like lemmings so it's hard to know tbh

pve I agree but the pvp no :p the main problem with copying is they try to do it and fail as in they just can't copy it properly thus it would fail.

i think the beauty of DAoC pve was it gave you something to aim for, the whole point (for most players) of doing PvE and raids etc was to be able to compete better in PvP, WoW lacks that, the only point of PvE seems to be able to do more PvE

You would need to start again, level cap is now 85...you would replace your gear after the first quest zone :)

a flaw in all mmos is they bring out expansions that force you're forced to buy to compete and also force major changes in the game so they can rake in a bit more money

I don't see that as a flaw. MMO's need a natural progression in order to keep subscribers interested, an expansion with new toons, regions or whatever is the natural way to go. The only problem is that a bad expansion really does have the ability to ruin a game completely.

But after a couple of expansions you've basically got a new game or at least a new end game, hence everyone wanting daoc origins because the current game is loaded with new abilities and crap

IT's the oldest whine in the world "bring back vanilla!", in any MMO.

Anyone playing an MMO thinking that things will stay the same, need to unsubscribe until they learn otherwise ;)

If after 5 years you still want same endgame, same battlegrounds, same dungeons and same raids...you have an issue not the game.

ford, you're quite right, SW:G for example died out due to one.

WoW for some reason, probably high enough playerbase and loyal fanbase, survived Wrath. I found Wrath to be enjoyable, but others didn't.

There is no right and wrong i an MMO expanding, some will like it, others will not and it all comes own to one thing; balls on the dev to do what they think is right.

Anything the players complain can 95% of the time be ignored.

The two flaws with wow are; catering to everyone, ergo giving abilities to several classes, removing special roles etc. There was a word for it, but can't remember it :p

The other being that it's lacking evolution a bit, it's, even with cata, still a bit old in its boots. It's good fun, but it's the same fun.

I'm going to go for cata in the summer probably, just because wow is one of those games that you can play on/off, much like EVE.

Yeah it was poorly wirtten, but was more about random thoughts on the matter and it's not like i do it all the time. The material and points are there still, if you don't get hung up on minor grammar nazism ;)
